Jumpscare: Five Nights at Freddy's
You're probably quite acquainted with jumpscares if you've played FNAF for any length of time. After getting a little too arrogant with our door or power control, we've all found ourselves gazing down the massive, mechanical mouth of a monster animatronic. The sound of those heavy footfalls and the piercing shriek that goes along with them is enough to give you nightmares for weeks.
Our guide to the Five Nights at Freddy's jumpscares is the place to go if you want to get a closer look at those horrific teeth or want to be ready for a scare the next time you're taking charge as a security guard at an apparently innocent restaurant. We've included every jumpscare FNAF has to offer, from the original to Ultimate Custom Night, along with tips for avoiding them so you can enter the belly of the beast prepared and aware of how these mechanical creatures operate.
See our FNAF Security Breach release date guide if you're wondering when the most recent installment in the series will be available on Switch. Additionally, you may truly embrace the dread you encounter in this guide thanks to our selection of creepy-cute toys, Funkos, and FNAF plushies.
Freddy's Jumpscare: Five Nights
Jumpscares FNAF
The original FNAF has a few different methods to set off a jumpscare. The most often occurs when your battery runs out, in which case the HUD vanishes, the doors open, and the room becomes dark. After then, all you have to do is wait for Freddy to appear and give you a fright as his footsteps get closer.
Apart from that, if you keep the doors open while the animatronics are close, you'll be startled by them if they stroll by. They all go in various directions.
Jumpscare Bonnie
As Bonnie is the most aggressive of the three primary animatronics, she is more likely to knock on the left door. Bonnie will be saying goodbye to you when the hall lights flicker out and you fail to close the door in time.
Junkscare Chica
The right door seems to reveal Chica. It's time to say goodbye to Chica because the hall becomes black if you don't shut the door in time.
Jumpscare Foxy
Foxy stays in Pirate Cove until you watch the cameras too often and he becomes angry. Then he runs down West Hall and heads for the office. You have a limited amount of time left to shut the door at this point. He only knocks four times and gives up if you lock the door in time. Otherwise, it's game over.
Jumpscare Freddy
That's correct, even if your power doesn't run out, Freddy will still attack you. He begins to move towards you later in the game, but he's always in the dark. He doesn't back off the way the other animatronics do, so you risk being choked if you don't keep him at away.
Jumpscare Golden Freddy
Golden Freddy is a possible fifth adversary that is hidden in the game. He often makes an appearance on the first or third night. When you look at the poster in the West Hall Corner (CAM 2B) and it switches from an image of Freddy to one of Golden Freddy, you'll see Golden Freddy seated in front of you with the words "It's me" flashing over him. This happens without changing cameras.
Jumpscares FNAF 2
In contrast to its predecessor, FNAF 2 lacks a power system that would shield you from animatronics. You must instead depend on your handy dandy music box, the torch, and the Freddy Fazbear Head mask. However, there is a bright side to being chomped: sometimes, you'll get to play a minigame a la Atari that contains clues about the game's backstory. Nevertheless, it's still sort of gross to get nibbled on by an animatronic, so here are all of the FNAF 2 jumpscares along with their respective triggers.
Traditional Automated Jump Scares
Except for the ones mentioned individually below, the majority of the FNAF 2 animatronics adhere to the same guidelines. If you don't put on the Freddy Head fast enough or drop it too soon, they will assault you the moment they walk into the office. Although the assault may not happen right away, you won't survive if you put the Freddy Head back on during this time. So proceed with caution.
Jumpscare mangle
Mangle has several unique characteristics even though it acts a lot like the other animatronics. When Mangle is in the blind area of the right air vent, you can also hear the static radio sound that is produced when you look at it on the monitor. When you hear this, if you don't put on your Freddy Head, Mangle comes into the office, hangs from the ceiling for the remainder of the night, and assaults you at random after you use the monitor. Mangle may still attack when you lower the music box, even though you may use the monitor to wind it up to keep him at away.
The Foxy jumpscare has withered.
There's no use using your reliable Freddy Head to ward off this fox when he comes knocking since he can look straight through it. The only way to stop Withered Foxy from attacking you is to stun him with the torch when he's hiding in the corridor. At this point, he retreats due to his dislike of bright lights, but without the Freddy Head's defence, it's simple to fall into this beastie's gnawing mouth, particularly with Balloon Boy's assistance.
Jumpscare Balloon Boy
The only animatronic that doesn't try to harm you is BB. Rather, he turns off your air vent lights and torch, letting out eerie laughs that are supposed to draw more animatronics to you. You are unable to stop BB after he enters the workplace; your only options are to use your Freddy Head wisely and cross your fingers that Withered Foxy doesn't show up.
The Jumpscare Puppet
The Prize Corner (CAM 11) Music Box must always be wound and playing in order for the puppet to come out of the gift box. If the music stops. In the event that it successfully makes its way out, the music box will play "Pop!" The puppet moves towards the office as "Goes the Weasel." Right now, nothing can stop the puppet-inflicted death from happening to you unless the night ends before it does. You are thus destined to die from it.
Jumpscare Golden Freddy
Golden Freddy is a peculiar one as we don't know precisely what sets him off, but the locals tend to think that if you wind the music box too slowly, particularly on night six, you're more likely to see him. Golden Freddy will attack you like a typical animatronic if his whole body is in the office and you forget to put on the Freddy Head in time. But Golden Freddy has different rules if his head is floating in the hallway. You now have to wait for him to be out of sight before utilising the torch in that corridor since it sets off his jumpscare.
Jumpscares FNAF 3
Unlike the other games, FNAF 3 has Springtrap as the only animatronic that can trigger a game-over jumpscare. The other adversaries' jumpscares just serve to obstruct your path and divert your attention from the true peril.
Jumpscare Springtrap
The only jumpscares in this version of Fazbear's Fright that will kill you are Springtrap's, since she is the only real animatronic roaming about. He often comes into the office from the left entrance, and when the maintenance panel is dropped, he strikes. He strikes from the right if he walks inside the workplace via the right vent or while your monitor is up.
Jumpscare Phantom Freddy
Every now and again Phantom Freddy limps about outside the office window. When he's out there, he disappears if you leave the monitor or maintenance panel down for an extended period of time. There's a short, stressful moment before he jumpscares you, which causes a ventilation mistake.
Jumpscare Phantom BB
Phantom emerges out of the blue on one of the several cameras, his eerie tiny visage filling the whole screen. He teleports to the office, looks at you, and then lunges himself at you with his jaws wide open if you don't change the camera or shut the monitor quickly enough when he shows up.
Jumpscare Phantom Chica
Phantom Chica sometimes shows up on CAM 07. After you've lowered your monitor and seen her, she moves to the left side of the office and begins to approach you. Her jumpscare will start if you pan the camera to the left at this moment.
Jumpscare
Phantom FoxyIt's risky for you to inspect the maintenance panel when Phantom Foxy suddenly emerges on the left side of the office. In order to view him, you must activate the camera system, turn around, and face the left side of the office to set off his jumpscare.
Jumpscare Phantom Mangle
Phantom Mangle may sometimes be seen hanging from the ceiling in CAM 4. When you detect Mangle outside the office window and shut the monitor without switching to a different camera, you'll hear a loud, radio static sound and an audio system fault.
Jumpscare Phantom Puppet
Phantom Puppet may sometimes be seen on CAM 08 standing in the hallway. Similar to Phantom Mangle, Phantom Puppet emerges in front of you in the workplace if you don't change cameras before lowering the display. You are exposed to Springtrap and other animatronics while it is there since you are unable to access the maintenance panel or the monitor.
"FNAF 4 Jumpscares" Your sole defences in FNAF 4 are doors and a torch. Play carefully because each jumpscare in this game results in a game over!
Jumpscare Nightmare Freddy
Even though Nightmare Freddy doesn't really exist outside of his jumpscare, he will either attack you straight out of the bedroom or will leap at you the next time you glance at the bed if you don't watch out for the Miniature Freddies.Jumpscares: Nightmare Bonnie and Nightmare Chica
They are also referred to as Jack-O-Bonnie and Jack-O-Chica. These two are energetic creatures. Chica always comes from the right, whereas Bonnie always comes from the right hallway. It is imperative that you keep an ear out for footsteps and promptly lock the door upon their appearance. You get a jumpscare from their door or from within the bedroom itself if you forget to shut it or open it too quickly.Jumpscares: Nightmare Mangle and Nightmare FoxyNightmare Foxy first appears in the hallway at the beginning of the night and then moves to the wardrobe. Because he moves more quickly than other animatronics, you must often check for him once he moves. His primary jumpscare is rather typical; it originates in the bedroom. Nightmare Foxy may emit a fierce snarl in his last form when a light is shone on him, but this does not mean the game is ended.Jumpscares: Nightmare Fredbear
In reality, Nightmare Fredbear takes on the parts of the four primary animatronics. The many methods he may jumpscare you are as follows:Hallway: Nightmare Fredbear often appears in the hallway; if you hear him chuckle, he has left the hallway and is either in the closet or on the bed. At this time, you must quickly lock the door to escape a jumpscare. You need to slam the wardrobe door shut right away if he is inside. You must shine your light on him if he is on the bed.Nightmare BB jump scares and plushtraps
Use your torch to fend off Plushtrap or Nightmare BB during the Fun with Plushtrap and Fun with Balloon Boy minigames. If you use your torch after they've reached you, you'll stop the minigame and cause a jumpscare, but it won't end the game.FNAF: Jumpscares at Sister Location
