Just in case you assumed it would all be blood and guts, the finest first-person shooter games don't just include violent war simulations. Top First-Person Shooter Games for Switch and Mobile Devices:

FPS games - three characters from Borderland. On the left, a woman with blue hair and yellow top, in the middle a strong man with pointy hair and yellow top, on the right a chiselled man with short brown hair and armour round his neck.

Borderlands Legendary Collection

Although Borderlands includes a lot of weaponry and a take-it-or-leave-it narrative, it also has some of the finest first-person shooter games available. It's difficult to resist being sucked into the gleaming firearms bursting out of dazzling chests as you race around the globe shooting robbers, clearing enemy camps, and running across rather irritating people along the way. It's absurdly enjoyable. There, the F word is crucial.

There are a tonne of games available here, as the name "collection" suggests, including:

  • Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition
  • Borderlands 2
  • Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

As you may have noticed, Borderlands 3 is not included in the set. The Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition, which coincidentally includes all six DLC items, allows you to get that one on the Switch. You can expect more mayhem, bloodshed, and firearms in this entertaining game, much like in the Borderlands Legendary Collection.

FPS games - a first person shot of a man holding a gun out in a room with red lights on the roof and pixelated demons dying in front of him.

Switch and mobile in Doom (1993)

One of the greatest first-person shooter games ever created, Doom has stood the test of time and is still relevant years after its original release. The truth is that the two Johns who worked on it created sleek, fast visuals, breathtaking labyrinths to explore, and repulsive-looking demons that beg to be dispatched wherever they are meant to go. Beautiful content.

FPS games - a fist person shot of a person holding out a shotgun in front of skeletal demons and a large bulbous spherical demon in a demonic space of red fire.

(2016) Doom – Switch

Thanks to Bethesda's iD Software, Doom had a big comeback in 2016, proving that the franchise could still produce high-caliber first-person shooters. This company, which excels in creating an enjoyable shooting environment, translated the iconic circle strafing from the original into expansive arenas populated with obscenely beautiful demons.

The 2016 version is still my favourite out of the lot, but the 2020 sequel is okay as well; for more information on why the 2016 game is superior, check out ourDoom Eternal Switch review.

FPS games - a man stands saluting in modern soldier armour next to a screenshot from Cod Mobile showing a first person view of a man holding an assault rifle.

Call of Duty Mobile

Call of Duty Mobile condenses all the little details that go into making CoD unique into a single, compact product. Though the arithmetic is challenging enough to keep you playing, there is the classic mobile game Gubbins in the Way of Everything. It's also a tremendous delight to play a vintage little map from your fond recollections in the palm of your hand. For some freebies, see our CoD mobile redeem codes.

If you're more into battle royales, you can also try Call of Duty Mobile: Warzone, which lets you use your saved progress from previous Warzone versions. Check out ourinterview with Chris Plummer to find out more about it.

FPS games - a first person shot of a person holding a large pistol out in front of them in a warehouse with broken windows full of trash with some light bleeding in from the left.

Metro 2033: Interchange

The greatest praise I can offer Metro 2033 is that it has a lot of Half-Life in it. While few games can match the intensity of Valve's follow-up, long, steady, suspense-building journeys through eerie, repulsive tunnels of darkness are still fantastic. This is the full package—and a much underappreciated one at that—along with a great deal of variety in faces to view and superb environmental narrative.

This game immerses you in an actual survival story. You essentially fire your money away since your money and bullets are the same thing. Sometimes you have to make this choice since there are opponents and mutants in these Russian tunnels that want to kill you. This is one of the greatest first-person shooter games available because of the inventive usage of cash as ammunition.

Metro 2033 and its successors may already be recognisable to readers of Dmitry Glukhovsky's novels.

FPS games - a man in a black suit, red tie, white shirt, holding a sniper rifle facing straight forward, face cut off by the frame.

Mobile Hitman Sniper

Hitman Sniper elevates everyone's favourite barcoded killer to the highest position so they may take advantage of helpless, gullible individuals. You may begin to feel a bit guilty about your violent day job as you survey gorgeous vistas full of heads to pop. But fear not, friend—that's Agent 47, not you.

Ours is a A review of Hitman Sniper: The Shadows if you'd want further information about what this series has in store. Alternatively, you might check out Hitman III's Cloud edition if you'd rather play a traditional Hitman game on the Switch.

FPS games - a large mechanical humanoid with a sea-diver-esque helmet and large pointy drill on his right hand next to a small girl with empty eyes in a hall with light and mist bleeding in.

The Collection of Bioshock: Switch

I strongly disagree with the assertion that Bioshock is anything "special" in the annals of gaming history. The majority of the pretentious narrative content is quite superficial. But if you want beautifully designed rooms with intense ambiances, this has it. It's more than enough to have fun when you add a few firearms in one hand, a sprinkling of spells in the other, and an infinite supply of crisp packets to dig out of the trash and munch on. Don't take it too seriously, however.

FPS games - a man runs through a field in tactical combat gear next to some others and bushes with trees in the distance.

Mobile PUBG - mobile

One of the greatest mobile battle royale games is still PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Although Fortnite and PUBG New State compete to unseat it, it's difficult to deny the original's legacy. Although the visuals are a touch shaky right now, the gameplay itself is still the greatest. Your meal will be chicken if you jump down, shoot, and survive. Yes, you may choose first person in the options even if it's written in third person above.

Metroid Prime RemasteredOne of the few first-person shooters that really changed the genre is Metroid Prime. Its significance and influence over the whole gaming industry have not diminished since its 2002 debut. Therefore, you really must go back and try it. Even better, Nintendo just updated the classic for the Switch, and it looks stunning. If you need more persuasion, read our Metroid Prime Remastered review.Alright, I'm done.
