Metroid Fear

Nintendo Switch

Let's resolve this now. Yes, Hollow Knight was inspired by the 35-year-old Metroid series, not the other way around. But since Samus's most recent journey amplifies the tension and the sense of foreboding, it undoubtedly shares themes with Hollow Knight. Discovering the sinister underbelly of planet ZDR is a terrifying experience full of dangerous new foes and mysteries tucked away in every corner of the landscape.

In addition, Samus has never felt better under control. Although this trip may be finished in a dozen hours on average, its intense boss fights and laser-focused gameplay demand for a rematch and some speedrunning. The best-feeling Metroid ever, and an almost flawless action game. Our Metroid Dread review has even more information on it.

Dead Cells

iOS and the Nintendo Switch

Envision a Metroid game that has smooth gameplay, an abundance of weaponry that can be unlocked, amazing castle/dungeon settings, and the potential to play endlessly. You're almost there in understanding what makes Dead Cells so incredibly clever. In the dynamic world of Dead Cells, rogue-lite gameplay is paramount. Shrewd weaponry can provide the ideal run, and gathering cells throughout each run nets you further upgrades and weaponry to bolster your might upon rising from the grave.

However, because of how difficult it is, you must depend on both your drips and your responses. No matter where you play it, it runs like a dream and has an amazing pixelated look and music. We've already invested several hours into it, and it's the ideal game to play "just one more run."

Symphony of the Night in Castlevania

iOSThough, regrettably, we are unable to list this as a Switch title. Symphony of the Night, maybe the best work Koji Igarashi ever did on the Castlevania series, introduced the world to the franchise and set the stage for all subsequent entries. This, along with Super Metroid, set the standard for what constitutes a contemporary Metroidvania and offered a tonne of unique transformation skills, fresh weaponry, and the opportunity to level up and earn experience points.Back when it was released on the Playstation, it looked quite gorgeous, and fortunately, the 2D design has held up incredibly well. If you've ever wanted to start the series, here is the ideal location to do so since the iOS version works beautifully and even supports Bluetooth controllers.

The Will of the Wisps and Ori

Nintendo SwitchOri and the Will of the Wisps could be the ideal solution if you like the concept of Hollow Knight but would rather something a bit more colourful and forgiving. This colourful and rich game, which was first launched for the Xbox, follows the titular Ori as they attempt to find their missing companion. They will encounter some eerie enemies and go through several stunning jungle settings on their adventure, all while Ori herself commands with a fluid and elegant movement that flawlessly complements their design.Though the narrative and exquisite music may sometimes cause you to cry, this is a very beautiful Metroidvania that is among the best-looking games on the Switch, offering around twelve hours of precise platforming enjoyment.Ori and the Will of the Wisps Ori and the Will of the Wisps ,,, and Nintendo $29.99 $29.99 Purchase Currently----Network N receives compensation via Amazon Associates and other programmes for qualifying purchases.

Axiom Verges 1 & 2Nintendo SwitchAlthough including two distinct games here would be a bit of cheating, both of Thomas Happ's dystopian sci-fi games are outstanding works of art that stand alone in terms of presentation and gameplay. Axiom Verge creates some amazing new skills with a wacky approach to weaponry, all set in a dark and oppressive universe full of technology and relics inspired by the gothic writings of H.R. Giger. The series begins with Axiom Verge 2, which has a sunny, almost Babylonian-styled environment with snow-capped peaks and underground lairs housing even more technological horrors. Even though they were both mostly made by a single developer, they both provide an experience comparable to that of much larger games. Both are worthy of a visit!Network N receives commissions on eligible purchases via several programmes, including Amazon Associates.

Sanctuary & Salt

Nintendo SwitchIf you like Hollow Knight's level of challenge, this could be the ideal sequel. Dark Souls served as a major inspiration for Salt and Sanctuary, which has a dismal setting and several difficult boss battles. Death is a real punishment here, and understanding the action and the specifics of this world takes some time. Fans of Dark Souls will, of course, recognise this as nothing new, but for those seeking a 2D interpretation of the action, this is a graphic and excellent recreation of all the elements that make the original game work, but without the depth.A murky scene shows a small character fighting a huge Knight Network N receives compensation via Amazon Associates and other programmes for qualifying purchases.
BlasphemousNintendo SwitchBlasphemous, another brutal game, is an incredibly intricate pixelated title that doesn't hold back when it comes to gore. Playing as The Penitent One, you must figure out what is causing a curse to plague the realm of Cvstodia. The game draws inspiration from Christian imagery and European architecture. With its fantastic blend of platforming challenges, intense boss battles, and hack-and-slash action, this game almost seems like it was made by the same people that made Dark Souls. Even more material has been added lately, continuing into the opening credits, and for those who still can't get enough, the creator has even hinted at a sequel. Dandara

iOS and the Nintendo SwitchDandara is a gravity-defying platformer that continuously defies expectations and offers exhilarating new gaming experiences. Explore the abandoned planet of Salt. The care and attention to detail that went into making this world a distinct tone and personality is evident at every turn, evoking a mood reminiscent to Hollow Knight's Hallownest. The game really utilises the incredible flow and rhythm created by the freedom to jump anywhere you want regardless of gravity, particularly in the new Trials of Fear Edition, which lets players take on even more difficult tasks once you've earned credits. A platformer with style and satisfaction that should be played by more people.A female character prepates t attack while a huge purple face looms over her From qualifying sales, Network N receives affiliate commission.

Advance Edition of Castlevania

Nintendo SwitchPerhaps the best value available, but still worthwhile for Aria of Sorrow alone. Following Symphony of the Night, Koji Igarashi decided to preserve the series in two dimensions, although he used the Game Boy Advance to defend the pixelated look. What came next was a trio of amazing Castlevania games, each with its unique advantages. The two sequels to Castlevania Circle of the Moon are much superior, with the first seeming more like a test run even if it's still a great and worthy adventure game.Classic Castlevania, Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow, expand upon Symphony of the Night's foundation while including unique gameplay elements. For good measure, there's also Castlevania: Dracula X included! This is unquestionably the greatest and least expensive method to play three classic games since they are all equipped with save states and many graphic settings.
