2024's top Crash Bandicoot games
My passion for gaming stems in part from the Crash Bandicoot games franchise. The wumpa-loving marsupial had a big part in my youth, whether it was by witnessing my father play the original game or getting it as a birthday present one year. Crash was the first PlayStation game I ever played. Finally, Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped is still one of my all-time favorite video games. But you can't help but question, which titles in a series with as many as this videogame icon are the best?
You're in the right spot, however, since I set out on a quest to discover which of Crash's best adventures on the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices allowed me to hop, skip, leap, and spin my way through a variety of levels. If you don't enjoy Crash Bandicoot, go over to our guide on car games, where you'll be in excellent company (well, you're still in wonderful company, but how great are you if you don't like Crash Bandicoot?). Choose from our lists of the top Disney games, Lego games, Zelda games, and Mario games if you're in the mood for some lighter fare.
Anyway, with our selection of the top Crash Bandicoot games for Switch and mobile devices, it's time to spin, slide, leap, and shatter a lot of crates.
Switch
for Crash Bandicoot N. Sane TrilogyTo begin with, Ben, you really have to be insane not to appreciate this wonderful trilogy. It's like stepping back in time to your early years, and although it may cause some frustration, the nostalgia it evokes is genuine as you wonder whether the games were always as challenging.
This compilation begins with Crash Bandicoot, the 1996 hit game that continues to be regarded as one of the greatest platformers ever made. Crash Bandicoot is essentially PlayStation's answer to Sonic from Sega and Mario from Nintendo. Of course, even though the trilogy was once exclusive to the PlayStation, the remaster is available on many platforms since everyone should be able to enjoy its awesomeness. In addition, the original game included some iconic bosses like Pinstripe—and we all know how much I like a good boss.
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex, the sequel, Retaliates by stealing every aspect of the original game's success and expanding on it. For instance, here is where Polar makes his debut, the renowned warp chamber appears for the first time, and the level design is far more varied. Playing this game is highly recommended due to the last point.
Last but not least, Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped is my absolute favorite game in the trilogy. I don't even mind being eaten by crocodiles, getting embraced by mummies, or losing my trousers in Agrabah since I love it so much. If riding a cute tiger named Pura over the Great Wall of China on the Orient Express—one of the finest Crash levels ever—and traveling to other eras inside the game aren't enough to get you to quit, I believe it's time you moved on.
Switch
for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled.Get ready for another amazing Crash Bandicoot game, which is also, in my opinion, the finest kart racer available. Don't even attempt to convince me otherwise. The game is a remaster of the 1999 original CTR, but it also include material from Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Tag Team Racing. It is sacrilegious that only CTR was given a remake. Thank you for a turbo trilogy.
Just as in every other spin-off kart racer, the campaign is played via the selection of a character. In contrast to the original, Nitro-Fueled offers more personalization possibilities and allows you to quickly swap between different characters, cars, and racing styles. Now go out and force them to consume your dust.

Switch
for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. After a lengthy wait for this game, my first thought upon its 2020 release was, "It's about time." Sure, I like the N. Sane trilogy and CTR Nitro-Fueled, but I really needed a new Crash Bandicoot adventure. Thankfully, Toys for Bob provided it, and this time, the marsupial had a real treat. When I say treat, I mean an excruciating experience that leaves you wondering whether the game is really tougher than the originals or if your ability to play is just becoming worse.
It's obviously the first choice, as I refuse to acknowledge that my skill in games is deteriorating. But part of the game's attraction is also its complexity. Is this a sign of a masochist, an obsessive gamer, or a combination of the two? Undoubtedly, Crash 4's amazing level design makes it simpler to navigate the same area again, albeit I'm not sure why. Oh, and how could I forget to mention the levels' names? Ship Happens, for example, truly does crash—really, really crashes.
Moreover, the narrative saves us all by continuing where Crash 3 Warped left off. Yes, it is correct. Between 1999 to 2020, there was no new core Crash game released. What a torturous and protracted wait. In any case, the narrative is amazing, and you get to take on the roles of Dr. Neo Cortex, Crash and Coco's adversary. An added feature is that you may play as both Tawna and Dingodile.
Though I don't believe I saw enough of Polar either, I do feel compelled to give Pura a little credit. After all, at least the bear showed up. In the meanwhile, the tiger vanishes into the mists of time.
Bonus entry for Crash Twinsanity
Well, so Crash Twinsanity isn't available on the Switch or mobile devices; it's available on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, of course, but I think an update is overdue. Honestly, I believe Twinsanity should be the only Crash game to get the beauty makeover out of all of them. Playing this game while on the fly seems like such a delight.
It's absurd. You follow Cortex as he parades around dressed as Coco right away; he's so good at it that I really think he should give drag acting a try. When you finally catch up to him, you both tumble through a system of caves, fighting your way through, and that sets the scene for the remainder of the game.
Crash Twinsanity is a humorous and unique game that works well because of its gameplay, stages, characters, and music. Give me Crash Twinsanity on Switch, please—I need it for my own sanity!
