The top video games for movies in 2024
Movie games have a poor rap, and some of it is justified. GameSwitch: The Mummy Demastered
Even though Tom Cruise isn't in The Mummy: Demastered, developer Wayforward created a fantastic tie-in that makes up for the lackluster film equivalent. An independent Metroidvania This exciting game, which plays on the hammer-horror origins of the genre while forging its own unique path, has razor-sharp action and stunning pixel visuals. Don't let the poor movie deter you from seeing it!
Mobile and switch for alien isolation
No one can hear you gaming in space. Videogame adaptations of Ridley Scott's classic science fiction work are nothing new, but let's just say that some of them fall a little short of the mark. On the other hand, Alien Isolation is a stunning horror game set in space that is rife with atmosphere and has a clever, exciting, and meticulous gameplay design. You must flee from the xenomorph as you try to evade human and alien adversaries by running and hiding.
Fantastic ports exist for both the Switch and mobile versions; for more information on the latter, see our Alien Isolation mobile review...
Switch: John Wick Hex
We'll take what we can get, but we're not sure why there isn't a popular first-person shooter game based on the John Wick series. A clever take on the "gun-fu" genre, John Wick Hex challenges you to think like an assassin and use cunning tactical gaming to overcome puzzles. Hex may not be what you think of when you picture a John Wick game—it plays somewhat like a top-down X-COM—but it's still a fantastic adaption.
Switch – Blair Witch
Now, prepared for a frightening experience? This is a distinct interpretation, set in the same world as the popular found-footage horror game. Blair Witch for Switch, created by Bloober Team, layers a tale of a seasoned soldier resolving his personal problems over much of the eerie and mythology of the original. Discover eerie woodlands, solve a supernatural enigma, and struggle to survive in this horrifying retelling of the Blair Witch myth.
Switch version of Star Wars: Knights of the Old RepublicHow much more is there to say here? Even though there are already 10 times as many Star Wars video games as there are motion pictures, this is probably the game that every serious fan believes to be the best. An amazing original narrative is told in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic role-playing game, set years before the well-known and beloved Jedi legends. Though it is full with the typical bureaucracy and morally gray decisions of the series, this is a clever action RPG that every fan should play.Check out our Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Switch review if you need further persuasion.
