In The Witcher 3, who is Ciri?

As revealed in The Witcher 3, Ciri had her early training from Geralt in Kaer Morhen's witcher stronghold. But because nobody knows where Ciri is at the start of the game, this is shown via playable flashbacks.

We first encounter the Bloody Baron, who housed Ciri. When she had to use her talents, she ran from the Baron because she knew the people hunting her for her elder blood, the Wild Hunt, would be able to tell that she had used her powers.

The personality of Ciri is a bit erratic. She is strong-willed, independent, and not a damsel in distress, but she is also obviously not unflappable. After all, she had been nurtured like a princess.
