Review of the Google Pixel 7 Pro
Our Verdict
The Pixel 7 Pro is ideal for more casual mobile gamers that want to make the most of the games they play while integrating them into their everyday phone. The cameras are stunning, as is the 6.7-inch display. However, the brilliant screen and versatile processor come at the expense of battery life.
- Excellent value for money
- Stunning camera quality
- In-built VPN
- Platform updates only last three years
- Battery life is less than expected
The Tensor G2 processor is what elevates the quality of the Pixel 7 Pro to such a high level. Although I didn't have any significant problems with the first Tensor G2 version, this is the tech giant's second try at creating a processing chip for its gadgets, and the Tensor G2 seems more polished and seamless.
The Pixel 7 Pro is much less expensive even though it is positioned to compete with Samsung's S23 Ultra and Apple's iPhone 14 Pro. Starting at $899 (£849), the Pixel 7 Pro smartphone is more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro and 23 Ultra, which retail for $999 (£1,099) and $1199.99 (£1,249), respectively.Assume you are acquainted with Google's app store and the Android platform. Attributes
With far to features, the Pixel 7 Pro has every premium phone feature you could want. Google's constantly growing app store and the top Android games is the central component of the gadget, and its ability to sync with both my phone and laptop simplifies my life. When you browse the internet, an integrated VPN protects you, and according to Google, it has undergone testing to meet international requirements. It saves you money by preventing you from having to purchase one of the best mobile VPNs, but I'm not sure if I've needed it yet, so I'll presume it's doing its job.s. With a Google skin on top of Android 13, the Pixel 7 Pro gets upgrades ahead of other Android-based phones. These are consistent—almost excessively so—but that's what lets the Tensor chip keep evolving and learning. For instance, the more you talk into the phone, the more it picks up on your speech patterns and the names of your loved ones. This means that your speech will be mirrored by autocorrection. Even though I love the Android operating system, I can't claim that I've learned anything important from using the smartphone in the last year. There are other features like a USB-C charging connector, a fingerprint reader under the screen, and a large camera that still makes my pals green with jealousy. While the editing software and camera are excellent, I did like that the fingerprint reader was located on the back of the device instead than the front. Although the new version isn't horrible, it may be a touch imprecise, it seems to be somewhat more responsive. There's also the option to face unlock if you'd likeCreate
The Pixel 7 Pro will satisfy all of your needs if you like a phone that is mostly made of glass with thin, curved bezels. The 100% recyclable polished metal coating is an attempt to be more environmentally friendly. Although the design is elegant and seems high-end, I do have one criticism. Google has adopted the practice of having large camera notches that may cause traffic to slow down. Using the phone while lying down on a surface causes sideways shaking if you're using it without a case, like I was for a week or two. The all-black Obsidian option for my Pixel 7 Pro is available, but there are also white (Snow) and gray/green (Hazel) options; the brighter colors are limited to the 7 and 7a versions. With the exception of the recently launched Pixel Fold, Google's 7 Pro is the company's largest phone. It is 6.4 inches tall, 3 inches broad, 0.3 inches thick, and features a 6.7-inch screen. With the exception of the cumbersome camera notch, the Pixel feels smoother and lighter than iPhones, which have a tendency to be more angular. Because Gorilla Glass is utilized all over the phone, it feels well-made and sturdy overall. I did drop the phone once when it was not in the case, slightly damaging one corner.Present
One of the nicest things about the Pixel 7 Pro is its screen. Almost all of my use of the gadget has been in the adaptive refresh mode, which changes the refresh rate from 60 to 120 Hz based on the circumstances. When combined with the adaptive color option, you'll get a vivid, brilliant screen that makes the most of your photos, games, and social media scrolling. In the last 12 months, I don't think I've encountered many situations when the screen couldn't keep up with me. This is perhaps the least you should expect if you're purchasing a flagship phone, and there won't be much of a difference between it and an iPhone 14. It will take some getting used to for the first few days using the 7 Pro if you're switching from a much older smartphone since the changes are so greatLife of a Battery
Although the high refresh rate screen is visually appealing, it has a price. Although Google states that the 5000 mAh battery may last more than 24 hours, I have discovered that this isn't always the case. Yes, I can reach closer to 30 or 35 hours on days with little use, but I'll need to charge the phone every day if I've spent a lot of time using maps or leveling up on Marvel Snap. The rapid charge option will be useful if you spend a lot of time on screens each day. Usually, an hour of charging will fully recharge the battery. The battery-saving options are excellent if you can't charge while you're out and about since they may extend the life of 20% of power for hours. I haven't tested it yet, but Google even says that the "extreme" saving settings may provide 72 hours of runtime. I have been using the 7 Pro for a constant amount of time, and I have not seen any indicators of the battery deteriorating with time.Achievement
What is the Pixel 7 Pro's gaming performance then? Google doesn't promote this as a gaming phone, so if you're an avid mobile player who enjoys pushing your gadget to its limits, you're better off purchasing a specialized gaming phone. This is an excellent choice if, like me, you prefer to come and go from games. I have to confess that I wasn't much of a player until I got the Pixel 7 Pro. Connecting the Pixel 7 Pro to the Marvel Snap But has altered that.My immersion in the conflicts is enhanced by the vivid colors of the Marvel characters, who stay true to their comic book roots, on the UHD+ screen I mentioned before. Even though Civilization VI is a far more complex game, which I have begun to dabble in a few games of, the Pixel can handle it with ease.My phone is beginning to become full with texts, emails, and pictures, but the Tensor G2 processor is handling it all without any lag or latency. There has never been a single instance where I have had to wait for it to catch up. This was partially the reason for my break from mobile gaming, since it was certainly not the case with earlier Google devices.Keep your laptop away from games, since the CPU can do certain jobs that would cause it to slow down. While most games will be easy to play, Google's magic eraser tool, which eliminates background items from photographs, is exceptional and almost perfect. However, as I've already said, if this is your preferred method of using your phone, you should have a power bank on hand since your Pixel 7 Pro can drain your battery very quicklyIs it wise to purchase the Google Pixel 7 Pro?
