Review of Marvel Future Revolution: one planet at a time, rescuing the metaverse
Our Verdict
Marvel Future Revolution is a must-play for any Marvel fan, featuring a strong narrative and plenty of explosions. Even when the gameplay becomes repetitive, there are other game modes to sink your teeth into.
Marvel and role-playing games are two of my favorite things in the world, so when Netmarble revealed the first glimpse of Marvel Future Revolution in 2020, I knew this was the game for me. With regard to mobile devices, the business has taken the enormously successful brand in a new route, choosing instead to create an open world with role-playing elements that let users customize their experience.
To be honest, the characters that a Marvel game has is one of the main pulls for fans of the franchise. Naturally, Marvel produces a lot of well-known television shows. To just a few, The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool are just a few. Thankfully, Marvel Future Revolution has a number of characters from different Marvel properties, such as Black Widow, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, and Storm. From their skills to their fighting styles, each of these characters has something special to offer.
Though she isn't the greatest character in the game per se, I prefer to play Natasha Romanov, also known as Black Widow, since she is my idol. But if you need a helping hand, watch who steps up to the plate and who gets left behind in our Marvel Future Revolution tier list.
Though the game's clear Marvel theme appeals to me, what really grabs my attention is the expansive open environment. Like everyone who is passionate in role-playing games, I like exploring new places and learning about what they have to offer. Thankfully, Marvel Future Revolution checks this box by including many places with distinctive features. For instance, New Stark City, with its numerous buildings and tidy surroundings, is a technological utopia. There is less glitz elsewhere, in places like Hydra Empire, where you may explore gloomy, dark lanes while battling your way through.
What else is new? Of course, the game's story puts you and your team of heroes up against overwhelming odds in an effort to save the day. This is just an ordinary workday. But this time, there are billions of different versions of humans who need to be saved since the entire metaverse is at risk; maybe this isn't just another ordinary day at work.
There are many counterparts for everyone, not just civilians, since it's the multiverse. It takes several versions of each villain to be vanquished; it is insufficient to just kick them in the ass once. There's never enough. Naturally, this implies that you will need to recruit more than one version of the heroes, since it is essential to have more than one egomaniacal person who names a city after themselves.
You're right in the thick of things right away. No warm-up is required. Marvel Future Revolution is an action-packed game that puts your willpower to the test from the moment you take control of Star-Lord. You don't just go in and start talking about our troubles over a cup of coffee, as one would anticipate from a Marvel game. Instead, we raise our hands, rescue the day, and vent our frustrations on whatever villain feels like taking a try at taking over the planet.
Combat in the game is swift and simple to navigate, making for an enjoyable and easily lost experience. Every hero has a main attack that does steady damage and a few special skills that may change the course of a fight.
Customization is another element that sets Marvel Future Revolution apart from other mobile hero games. Every hero has an enormous variety of customization possibilities; it's not only about stopping crime. It's all about looking the part. You may personalize every aspect of a hero, even individual fingers, so it's doubtful that you'll ever find another hero who looks exactly like you. My Black Widow is unique, as seen by just one glance at her, even though she looks amazing in everything.
Additionally, you may choose the build for your heroes using the Omega cards system. While some cards emphasize health, others can make sure you're dealing out more damage than the Hulk when he gets furious. When deciding which abilities to utilize, keep these cards in mind since they are essential to your success. It's amazing how much customization is possible in a mobile game, and Marvel games in the future would be wise to take this into consideration.
I feel that Marvel Future Revolution is bringing me to a whole new universe, so I just had to include the auto-play function as well. Previously, I was adamantly opposed to this—not because I thought auto-play should never be used, but rather because it affected me personally. Being able to be a hero is something I absolutely aim to take advantage of since I'm just your ordinary Joe. However, there are times when I, like many others, want to advance, level up, and earn benefits without having to grind. For this reason, auto-play is a fantastic function that I will never question again.
The performance of Marvel Future Revolution is unquestionably superior to what I seen during my Marvel Future Revolution preview. It should be noted that I'm using an iPad Pro model from 2021 for this game, and apart from the fact that it looks good, the game also seems to have resolved whatever teething issues it had. It almost seems like I'm playing a console game at times. I would even go so far as to claim that this would work with the Xbox, PC, and PlayStation—possibly even with cross-save turned on so you could play while at home and on the road.
Of all, no game is flawless, and with time, Marvel Future Revolution's repetitiveness makes it fall short. Without a doubt, however, the game is engaging and has good material. In the event that completing side missions and the plot get monotonous, engage in some PvP to establish your superiority over everyone else.
All things considered, Marvel Future Revolution is an absolute must-play, featuring amazing gameplay and a cast of the largest Marvel characters to date. It's not exactly an innovative title, but it does contain fighting and visually pleasing visuals, along with a story that might have been lifted directly from a comic book.
