Havok from Marvel Snap is the latest mutant to upend the metaverse.

Havok, a Marvel Snap hero, is the most recent addition to the Hellfire Gala season. Havok is one of the more unusual effects we've seen from the roster of recent inclusions, and although we don't anticipate it to have nearly the same impact as Blob did last week, there is still potential for him in some of the riskier meta decks.

Havok is a two-cost, zero-power card that falls in Marvel Snap. Its effect is, "After each turn, you lose 1 Max Energy and this gains +4 Power." That's a really substantial shift, which, if you know anything about the card game Second Dinner, puts you in a position where, in turn six, you have a 16-power card but less energy to spend on bringing additional cards into play. In any case, you may try your luck with this week's highlight caches or stump out 3,000 collector's tokens in the store to see whether Havok's influence works for you.

Although certain Marvel Snap decks may make use of Havok, none more so than a Mister Negative construct. Joining forces with Mister Negative has two advantages for this new mutant. The main advantage is that, even with the loss of energy turn-on-turn, you can still make some fairly significant plays with cards like Iron Man, Iron Heart, Knull, and Arnim Zola. First, Mister Negative's effect makes Havok become a zero-cost two-power card. However, there isn't as much of a benefit if you draw Havok before Mister Negative since this deck is a bit luck-based.

Another, even more sinister method exists for using Havok with Viper and Shang Chi into a deck. Just play Havok on turn two, push him to the other player's side on turn three, and then use a Shang Chi on turns five or six to eliminate that Havok. By doing this, you're eliminating a strong card and depriving your opponent valuable energy points. It's a really evil drama, one in which Magneto himself would have been pleased.
