Yu-Gi-Oh! The creator of Cross Duel offers both fresh and familiar forms.

In 2022, Yu-Gi-Oh! is a franchise that is almost as old as I am, with a large worldwide fan base, several anime and film series, and an enormous amount of merchandise. Still, not until recently, with titles like Yu-Gi-Oh! DUEL LINKS and Yu-Gi-Oh! RUSH DUEL: Dawn of the Battle Royale!!, have the Yu-Gi-Oh! games seen many significant changes or alternate game modes outside of early 2000s titles like Duelist of the Roses or The Falsebound Kingdom.

Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL is anticipated to be Konami's card game King's most ambitious advancement in a long time, threatening to alter the format once again. The popularity of Master Duel has increased the buzz around the card game, but there's still a lot of information to learn about the fundamental gameplay of Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL.

We thus went to the top to find answers, and we had the good fortune to speak with Yuya Takayanagi, a developer from the Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL team, about them. We bombarded him with questions about the new formats, the monster customization possibilities in Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL, and even managed to get in a brief question about his own favorite card.

This is how it's built. Furthermore, even those who are not acquainted with Yu-Gi-Oh! will quickly get a feel of its bright and fascinating environment thanks to the monsters' impressive 3D representation.

Which advice would you most recommend to someone who is just beginning Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL?

Making a Deck should be the first thing you do, in my opinion, after you understand the rules. "Recommended Deck Selection" is an excellent feature in the game that you may use if you are unsure about what sort of Deck to build. This will use the cards you have available to you to automatically design a deck for you. Creating and discovering your favorite Decks is, in my opinion, the quickest route to improvement. Playing with them and familiarizing yourself with the cards at your disposal is quite beneficial.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Is Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL using anime characters and storylines because MASTER DUEL made no reference of the anime?

Yu-Gi-Oh! Anime characters from seven different Yu-Gi-Oh! series, ranging from Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters to Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS, have their original voices used in CROSS DUEL. Hearing all of the language from well-known characters like Jaden Yuki and Yami Yugi that was recorded expressly for this game is fantastic. There may sometimes be more characters introduced, and we hope you will enjoy playing with them and listening to their distinctive voice acting.

Do you have any plans to hold a Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL competitive event in the future?

While the specifics of the tournament schedule and structure are yet to be determined, we want to have both in-game and offline events for Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL. We want to continue introducing Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL to major competitive gatherings like the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship in the future.

What inspired the creation of a Yu-Gi-Oh game for four players?

My goal was to develop a brand-new game for the wildly popular Yu-Gi-Oh! series. Thus, I came up with the concept for a four-player game while researching the strategic complexity and elements of "Yu-Gi-Oh!" games.

How is the dynamic of a Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel altered by the four-player mode of gameplay?

I believe the most intriguing aspects of Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL are the components that arise from players competing for position. It involves considering how to raise one's position in a duel at any given time. You have to take into account both the current situation and the strategies used by each other. You have to figure out each opponent's psychological game. This, in my opinion, is a big part of what makes this whole new Yu-Gi-Oh! experience so charming.

What made you decide to include the skill trees for monster customization?

Our aim was to generate uniqueness, wherein a single monster had varying abilities contingent upon the user's configuration. We believed that doing this will increase the variety of tactics and Deck building options and make it even more engaging. The skill tree was included as a difficult feature that deepens the overall experience of the game.

How have you used other live services as inspiration? What games are available for Yu-Gi-Oh! CROSS DUEL?

We are inspired by all of them as we continually strive to include the greatest elements and aspects from our own creations, animations, and games into our new ones.

Which dueling style in this game is your personal favorite, and why?

For me, the most enjoyable room matches are those that I play with my friends. Every battle, I use a new Deck, and it's a creative and enjoyable atmosphere to play in.

And lastly, which card is your all-time favorite?

The Blue-Eyes White Dragon, I must mention. Because of how utterly distinct its design is from typical dragons, such as those seen in Western and Oriental civilizations, it is my particular favorite monster card.
