Is marriage a good idea in Skyrim?
In Skyrim, getting married is definitely a good idea, particularly if you want to reap additional perks. The following are advantages of marrying in Skyrim:
- Money – your partner gives you gold if you have a house
- Food – they also cook a meal every day if you have a house
- The Bonds of Matrimony – a ring that fortifies restoration spells
- Lover’s Comfort – a boost to experience gains if you sleep in the same area as your partner
- Immortality – your partner can only be killed by you, not anyone else
How can I tie the knot in Skyrim?
Here's a detailed guide on getting married in Skyrim:
- Talk to Marmal about marriage at the Temple of Mara or Bee and Barb in Riften
- Obtain an Amulet of Mara (more details below)
- Complete a character’s specific requirements for marriage (more details below)
- Ask the character to marry you while wearing the Amulet of Mara
- Return to Marmal to arrange a wedding ceremony
- Attend the wedding ceremony
That's all for you. After your marriage in Skyrim ends, you may enjoy a variety of benefits, including the option to move in with your spouse or have them do so, and to have a happy, second virtual life.
How can I get a Mara amulet?
An Amulet of Mara may be obtained in a few different ways:
- Buy one from Marmal in Riften (at Temple of Mara or the Bee and Barb)
- Complete the quest “The Book of Love” (started by talking to Fastred in Riften)
- Lover’s Tent, an unmarked location along the shoreline to the east of Dawnstar, has one inside
- Imperials, Stormcloaks, and Hold Guards may wear one you can pickpocket
- Many different merchants could sell one
In Skyrim, how do I file for divorce?
In Skyrim, the only way to end a marriage is to murder your partner. Proceed if you are able to live with this in your conscience. I find it a little nauseating, however.
In Skyrim, who may I marry?
The locations of all the Skryim marriage candidates and instructions on how to pop the question are listed here. One of the Nord Companions is Aela the Huntress. To fulfill her marriage prerequisite, complete the Companions questline. She is located in Whiterun's Jorrvaskr.
Aeri is a Nord who can be found west of Windhelm in Anga's Mill. You may get married to her after cutting some firewood for her; she has a home. My friends, manual work is the labor of love.
In Karthwasten, Ainethach is a Breton. To begin a quest about the Sanuarach mine, speak with him. He'll be willing to be your partner if you can fix the problem for him (love emoji).
Angrenor Once-Honored is a common beggar in Windhelm who is sometimes seen wandering about and other times at Candlehearth Hall. One gold piece is all he needs to show you how much he cares. Would that all relationships could be like that, huh? (I apologize).
Redguard priestess Anwen is located in Markarth's Temple of Dibella. Helping Dibella along the way will allow you to finish The Heart of Dibella quest and win her affection. She remains at the temple despite her love for you, demonstrating her genuine commitment to Dibella.
To locate Argis the Bulwark, go to Markarth's Vlindrel Hall. He becomes your disciple as soon as you become the thane of Markarth. Then it's time to have babies.
Athis is a member of the Companions and a Dark Elf. To have the opportunity to marry him, finish the Companions questline. He is located in Whiterun's Jorrvaskr.
Avrusa Sarethi is a Dark Elf that requires physical work from you. She has a farm east of Ivarstead that she calls Sarethi farm, by the way. Get in Smooth Jazbay's good graces by completing the mission and gathering a ton of berries for her.
A Riften Nord with a penchant for crafting weapons is Balimund. Get him some fire salts so you can spend the evening curled up in his arms (figuratively speaking).
Most of the time, the dangerously named—if you make a typo—Belrand hangs out at The Winking Skeever pub in Solitude. All he needs to conclude that you're a suitable companion is 500 gold as a hiring charge. A plain guy with uncomplicated preferences.
Benor's name suggests that you're asking someone to decide between you and someone else, but you don't have to say that. Just get the better of him in a brawl, and he'll agree to marry you. He enjoys a good fistfight.
To locate Borgakh—either inside or outside—go to Larak's Longhouse in Mor Khazgur. If your ability to persuade is strong enough, you may win her over as a disciple and eventually be married. However, before you do so, make sure you're OK with having the last name "the Steel Heart."
Brelyna is a magic maven that can be found in Winterhold College. You may begin the task Brelyna's Practice by speaking with her. She will then perform spells on you, and you can hang around with her indefinitely—who knows, maybe she'll use magic to torment you some more.
Locate a home in Windhelm and a Calder in Hjerim. Then, merely engage in some civil fighting and assume the role of the Thane of Eastmarch in order to wed him. Remember that becoming a Thane requires you to either seize Windhelm with the Imperials or capture Falkreath with the Stormcloaks—that's what I mean by the whole "civil-warring" thing.
There at the Riverwood Trader is Camilla Valerius. You may marry her once you enter, speak with her brother Lucan, and finish the quest "The Golden Claw"—I believe every player in Skyrim has already done this?
Go to the Silver Blood Inn in Markarth, challenge this guy to a duel, emerge victorious, and then drop to one knee and demand his bloodied, splotchy hand in a grimy Skyrim marriage if you want a drunk for a mate. Brutal, yet in reality, he's just a teddy bear.
Situated near Darkwater Crossing, a mining settlement south of Windhelm, at the end of the river that runs past Fort Amol, is one of the few Argonian hubbies in existence. To begin the mission to rescue him from Darkwater Pass, speak with locals there. You have his affection once he's rescued.
Dravynea the Stoneweaver is a Dark Elf located in Kynesgrove, south of Windhelm. He may be found in the Braidwood Inn or Steamscorch Mine. Speak with her, buy her some frost salts, and presto! Time for marriage.
Farkas is a Companion from the Nord. To locate him, go to Jorrvaskr, their Whiterun headquarters. To marry him, fulfill the primary Companion quest, just as you would with any other Companion.
To locate the Nord Filnjar, go to Shor's Stone, which is located behind some mountains south of Windhelm. To begin the Mine or Yours quest, speak with him. Finish it to prepare him for marriage.
An orc located east of Markarth in either Pavo's House or the Left Hand Mine. To begin the Kolskeggr Mine quest, speak with Pavo. Finish it to win this guy over. After you've cleared Kolskeggr Mine, both he and Pavo will return.
This Iron-Handed guy may be found in Dushnikh Yal, an Orc stronghold, southeast of Markarth. You can get your hands on him if you can convince him to follow you, bribe him, or win him over in a fight. (I like the notion of buying someone's marriage).
Why do Orcs always have names starting with the letter G? That being said, Ghorza works as a blacksmith in Markarth. Finish her preferred Skilled Apprenticeship in order to prepare for a traditional Skyrim marriage.
You may now proceed by going to Mixwater Mill, which is southwest of Windhelm, and chopping some firewood for Gilfre. Sometimes, the simplicity of love in Skyrim is breathtaking.
Heljarchen Hall is located south of Dawnstar. After you've turned into Thane of the Pale, you may locate Gregor here. To do this, go to Jarl Skald the Elder, finish Waking Nightmare (start this quest by speaking with Erandur at Windpeak Inn), finish the last three Dawnstar missions, and then go back to him. After that, Skald commands you to slay the giant, finish this quest to turn into Thane, and go see Gregor to do some romantic things.
To begin the mission Retaking Thirsk, travel to Bujold's Retreat in Solstheim (part of the Dragonborn DLC) and speak with Bujold. Go to Thirsk Mead Hall in the west to finish the quest. After everything is finished, locate Halbarn Iron-Fur in the meadow hall and go down on one knee for some cuddling.
In addition, Hilund may be located in Bujold's Retreat prior to finishing the mission Retaking Thirsk. After that's over, Thirsk Mead Hall is where you may find her. However, completing this quest is not necessary in order to be married. Have a conversation with her, take a few Riekling spears to fulfill her favor request, and give them back to her in exchange for the chance to win her everlasting love.
Once you are Thane of the Rift, you may make Iona, a Nord soldier, your personal companion. Meet the Jarl of the Rift and finish the assignment I Done Got Thaned to do this! Yes, exactly—exclamation point and all—that is the name of the phenomenon. When you're finished, go play some Skyrim marriage with Iona in Honeyside.
In Whiterun's Drunken Huntsman, Jenassa is a dark elf. It's cool that after you hire her for 500 gold, she realizes that she wouldn't mind becoming married to you. All it took was a little cash to make the transaction sweeter.
Another Nord with a rigorous standard for marriage acceptance in Skyrim is Jordis the Sword-Maiden. To finish the mission Thane of Haafingar, all you have to do is go back to the hold, see the Jarl, help five of his residents, purchase Proudspire Manor, and finish the quest. Jordis may become your disciple and potential spouse when you're done.
After finishing the main questline's Dragon Rising, return to the Jarl of Whiterun, who will turn you a Thane and give you Lydia as a personal housecarl. You may propose to Lydia when you buy Breezehome in Whiterun. Hooray!
Chuck Marcurio 500 gold to enlist him in your combat. After that, you may play Skyrim marriage. He is located in Riften in the Bee and the Barb.
You may find Mjoll the Lioness in Riften, either dining at the Bee and the Barb or strolling about Aerin's House. Locate her to begin Grimsever's Return. Finish it to be eligible for her marriage.
To speak with Morwen, go to Skaal Village in Solstheim. Morwen may give you the mission Skaal Village Dialogue when you finish The Fate of the Skaal. If you succeed in your goal, she will agree to be your forever beau.
Moth gro-Bagol may be found in Markarth in Understone Keep. He just begs for a heart—more specifically, a Daedra heart. If you give him that, he's a happy guy—a little strange, in my opinion, but whatever.
In Markarth, Muiri oversees the Hag's Cure. Muiri completes the Dark Sacrament questline after starting the Dark Brotherhood questline. You begin the Mourning Never Comes quest after sending something to her. After doing this completely (that is, completing the optional goal "Kill Nilsine Shatter-Shield"), return to her. Nothing makes someone hotter for you than a little bit of assassination.
Njada resides in Jorrvaskr, Whiterun, and is a Nord companion. To have the opportunity to propose to her in a violent Skyrim marriage, finish the Companions questline.
You may find old guy Octieve San lounging about Solitude in a few different spots. He wants you to approach someone and try to threaten, bribe, or convince them. That way, you may have this ancient guy all to yourself.
Omulag resides in Markarth's Warrens. Similar to Octieve, all you need to do to start a marriage is track him down, repay his favor, and come back.
Visit the Winterhold College, speak with Onmund, and you will be given the task Onmund's Request. Finish it to be eligible for his marriage.
Orla is a Nord priestess that can be found in Markarth in the Temple of Dibella. Helping Dibella along the way will allow you to finish The Heart of Dibella quest and win her affection. She remains at the temple despite her love for you, demonstrating her genuine commitment to Dibella.
An Imperial was discovered east of Markarth, perhaps at Pavo's House or the Left Hand Mine. To begin the Kolskeggr Mine quest, speak with Pavo. Finish it to win him over. After finishing the mission, you may locate him at Kolskeggr Mine.
Soljund's Sinkhole is located far east of Markarth. Perth is willing to marry you once you speak with him outdoors and begin the process of clearing the area. After that, you may locate him in the mine or at the miner's home nearby.
You are given the mission Repairing the Phial by Quintus Navale, an Imperial in Windhelm's White Phial. If you finish it, you might marry him in Skyrim.
After you become the Thane of Falkreath, Rayya may become your personal housecarl and a potential match for marriage in Skyrim. Start the mission by having a conversation with the Jarl, finish it, and then propose to her.
In Windhelm's Sadri's Used Wares, Revyn Sadri is a Dark Elf. He wants you to do him a favor by planting a stolen item. After completing the mission, you may indulge in romantic activities.
Ria is a Whiterun Companion in Jorrvaskr. To have the chance to marry her, finish the main Companion quest.
To locate Roggi Knot-Beard, go to Kynesgrove, south of Windhelm. She may be found in the Braidwood Inn or Steamscorch Mine. Agree to his Dungeon Diving mission in exchange for the opportunity to marry him.
The Dark Elf Romlyn Dreth is located in Riften's Black-Briar Meadery. Completing his Under the Table favor yielded a surprise. Yay, you can have a classy marriage in Skyrim!
Rulnik Wind-Strider is located in Whiterun's Temple of Kynareth. Read the message in the Dead Man's Drink in Falkreath to begin the quest A Dying Wish. You have a decision to make on this quest: choose a cup. After selecting the Altar of Nothing and finishing the mission, you may quickly get engaged to him as a follower.
Not unexpectedly, Scouts-Many-Marshes is an Argonian dockworker in Windhelm who works along the docks. To earn the opportunity to marry him, have a conversation with him and fulfill his favor (A Few Words with You).
Senna is a Breton priestess who works in Markarth's Temple of Dibella. Helping Dibella along the way will allow you to finish The Heart of Dibella quest and win her affection. She remains at the temple despite her love for you, demonstrating her genuine commitment to Dibella.
Shahvee is located in Windhelm's Argonian Assembly. After you talk to her and complete her Dungeon Delving quest, she becomes eligible for marriage in Skyrim. Remember that she is the only female Argonian you can wed, so if you want to amass them all, be sure to court her.
in the mouth of the river that runs past Fort Amol, in Darkwater Crossing, a mining settlement south of Windhelm, is a Dark Elf named Sondas Drenim. He requests that you bring him a message since he works at Goldenrock Mine. For the chance to marry him, go ahead and do it.
An Imperial named Sorex Vinius may be found at the Winking Skeever in Solitude. Fulfill his delivery favor to be granted another chance at marriage in Skyrim.
Stenvar is located in Windhelm's Candlehearth Hall. Give him a little cash to employ him, and that will be plenty to consider him for marriage.
To locate the Nord miner Sylgia, go to Shor's Stone, which is situated behind some mountains south of Windhelm. drop your head out of the gutter and drop down on one knee after you finish her mission Special Delivery.
In Solitude, Taarie is the leader of the Radiant Raid. If you want her to be interested in marrying you, you may invest in her shop. When there's some money involved, a lot of people accept marriage in Skyrim, right?
Although Temba Wide-Arm's arms aren't the largest I've ever seen, whatever. Just do her a favor and you'll be snuggled by these broad limbs whenever you want to. Simple as pie. She resides in Ivarstead, which is the starting point of the Seven Thousand Steps leading to High Hrothgar.
A Nord Companion is Torvar. To have the opportunity to marry him, finish the Companions questline. The Companions are located in Jorrvaskr, their headquarters in Whiterun.
In Whiterun's Bannered Mare, Uthgerd the Unbroken is a fighter. To obtain the opportunity to marry her, challenge her to a fight and emerge victorious. A little strange, but to each his own.
Highmoon Hall in Morthal is where you may find Valdimar. Help the Jarl's subjects in the hold to earn the opportunity to wed him and become the Thane of Hjaalmarch.
A Nord Companion is Vilkas. To have the opportunity to marry him, finish the Companions questline. The Companions are located in Jorrvaskr, their headquarters in Whiterun.
Viola Giordano is located in Windhelm's Candlehearth Hall. Speak with Revyn Sadri at Sadri's Used Wares in the city, and insist that he sell only authentic goods as promised. The quest That Was Always There begins with this. Inform Viola of the circumstance (do not heed Sadri's counsel), and she becomes eligible to marry in Skyrim. Who said there was no reward for being a decent guy?
In Markarth's Silver-blood Inn, Vorstag is a Nord. If you make him your follower, you could hear distant wedding bells.
Wilhelm is located in the Vilemyr Inn in Ivarstead, which is at the foot of the stairs leading to High Hrothgar. To begin the Lifting the Shroud quest, speak with him about Shroud Heath Barrow. If you finish it, he may be yours forever. or demise.
You may locate Ysolda, a Nord, in Whiterun Market. She requests a mammoth tusk be brought to her. If you do so, it will be just as meaningful as gifting her a diamond ring. But watch out because her side project, Skooma, could entangle you.
