All characters from Mortal Kombat 1

We get to hear the menacing voice in the skies yell, "finish him," once again because of a roster of MK1 fighters, but who are the Mortal Kombat 1 characters? With a whole new plot and beloved combatants with brand-new MK1 characters, the next game acts as something of a relaunch for the franchise.

Many Mortal Kombat characters exist, of course (some thanks to the Mortal Kombat 1 kombat pack), but if you'd like to know even more, we have a number of guides available, like our Mortal Kombat Sonya article, where we go into her appearances, personality, and fatalities. That being said, read our post to find out which Mortal Kombat fatalities and Mortal Kombat 1 fatalities we believe to be the most horrific.

Anyway, let's talk about all we know about the characters from Mortal Kombat 1 ().

Who are the characters from Mortal Kombat 1?

The characters from Mortal Kombat 1 are:Mortal Kombat 1 characters: Mileena sitting in a carage staring intently aheadMileena

For those who don't know, Mileena from Mortal Kombat is a cruel person who takes pleasure in hurting others. She is Kitana's clone, but because of her Tarkatan ancestry, we presume that she will be needing a significant dental cost. But in Mortal Kombat 1, Mileena and Kitana are boring siblings, and Sindel is their mother. Things are a little different. The three of them are close, and in an unexpected turn of events, Mileena is the elder sister and will take her mother's place on the Outworld kingdom. If you like Mileena's predatory demeanor, don't worry—the Tarkat sickness that is wreaking havoc on Outworld is what makes her the vicious murderer that we have all come to know and love. Mileena's journey in MK1 is intriguing and at last gives her the hero's welcome she so well deserves.Mortal Kombat 1 characters: Scorpion stood in his human form in the middle of a room surrounded by tablesScorpion

Scorpion must, of course, appear in every Mortal Kombat game. At this point, he's nearly associated with the franchise. The fan favorite, Hanzo Hasashi, appears in the teaser as his human self rather than the undead Ninja (revenant) he usually portrays, which is something we find intriguing. Although MK11 features Hanzo, MK1 is a reboot, therefore this Scorpion is completely different from the fighter you are familiar with from earlier games.Don't worry, Sub-Zero and Mortal Kombat's Scorpion remain adversaries throughout the game's events, but it's more of a family drama. Yes, Scorpion is now Kuai Lang, and these two enduring characters are now family. Yes, the younger brother of Bi-Han who would grow up to become Sub Zero in Mortal Kombat II. I bet you weren't prepared for that.

Kitana

Kitana has a fascinating past. She is a princess since she is Shao Khan's stepdaughter and Sindel's daughter. Despite having been faithful to her father figure for the most of her life, Kitana is a kind person at heart, which makes her wonder about the morality of her acts while serving as Outworld's ruler Shao Khan's commander (he is also accountable for Edenia's misery). She later betrays him as a result, joining forces with the Earthrealmers. She is not Sindel's only kid in Mortal Kombat 1, since Mileena is her full sister. In addition, Kitana is not expected to succeed to the throne in this scenario since Mileena is the elder sister. She is still a significant character, helping her sister through her sickness and trying to keep Outworld safe.Johnny Cage

Another enduring figure from the Mortal Kombat series is Johnny Cage. The absence of my favorite Sonya and Johnny's kid, Cassie Cage, from this reboot hurts a little. Nevertheless, given that Johnny plays a part in the plot as one of Earthrealm's warriors, there's a chance that Sonya Blade may appear as a playable character in the future game—especially considering how extensive a history they have, regardless of the chronology and story we're in.Mortal Kombat 1 characters: Sub-Zero stood in a building with his arms by his sideSub-Zero

To be honest, whenever a new Mortal Kombat game is released, I can't help but wonder whether Sub-Zero from the original game would make a cameo, particularly since Noob Saibot isn't in it. However, it is reasonable to believe that Kuai Liang, who is notably more amiable than his elder brother Bi-Han, is MK1's Sub-Zero. In actuality, he puts an end to Scorpion's long-standing feud as Sub-Zero. They even collaborate in MK11.Although Sub-Zero and Scorpion are siblings in Mortal Kombat 1, they eventually choose opposite paths because by the time the game ends, Sub-Zero has transformed into Bi-Han, and we all know how power-hungry he is.

Raiden

In Mortal Kombat 1, the Thunder God is present. Really, how could he not be? However, rather than Raiden calling out the Earthrealm combatants, it's Liu Kang who arrives to Kung Lao and Raiden as crisis is about to arise. These days, Liu Kang is a god unto himself—and a very strong one at that. Even though Raiden is now simply your typical Joe, he is still capable of fighting; in MK1, he was one of Earthrealm's champions.Liu Kang

Now that he is a fire god, Liu Kang is even more of the greatest combatant in Earthrealm. You see, since he built it, he's the reason we may enter a another world and begin a new tale. Not that it's his fault. As MK11 and its DLC come to a close, everything is in disarray. Even though he did a fantastic job of reconstructing the cosmos, Quan Chi and Shang Tsung were still able to gain strength, thus in MK1, he will need to put up a group to put them back in their proper places.Kung Lao

Ah, Liu Kang's closest buddy and fellow Shaolin monk, Kung Lao. However, in MK1, it is no longer the case. Instead, as the two of them grow up together, Raiden becomes his closest buddy. However, Liu Kang ultimately shows there, designating Kung Lao as Earthrealm's protector. Yes, he still uses his fabled hat to great effect.Mortal Kombat 1 characters: Shang Tsung emergening from flamesHang Tsung

Shang Tsung, one of the most well-known villains in the whole series, appears in MK1. He creates a ton of trouble in Mortal Kombat 1 as usual, collaborating with Quan Chi to unleash mayhem and destruction.

Kano

Yes, Kano. Fans of Mortal Kombat are too familiar with this Black Dragon's head. When MKX and MK11 come around, Kano will always be remembered as Sonya Blade's archenemy since he also has a problem with her daughter, Cassie Cage. Although Kano is a vicious person who would murder anybody for the appropriate pay, you cannot play as him in MK1 since he is just a kameo fighter.Kenshi Takahashi

In Mortal Kombat 1, Kenshi triumphantly returns after his premature death in the MKX and MK11 timelines. The young guy can see in this new reality, thus you could also note that the sword's master has no band covering his eyes. As a protector of EarthRealm in MK1, Kenshi battles Shang Tsung and General Shao with Raiden, Johnny, and Kung Lao.

Tobacco

Hey, Smoke. For those who do not know, this ninja is similar to Sub-Zero in that he is a member of the Lin Kuei clan. He joins the clan in Mortal Kombat 1 together with Scorpion and Sub-Zero, taking on the role of leader as they battle to protect Earthrealm. But considering the arguments between the two brothers, Smoke finds himself faced with a tough choice: whom to support? you discover out, be sure you play the game.

Precipitation

As a formidable High Mage from Outworld, Rain is prepared to go above and beyond in Mortal Kombat 1 to fulfill his realm's ambition for dominance. He practices water magic, and in MK1, as if he weren't skilled enough, he makes an effort to master the most potent and sinister sorcery in the region.

Baraka

It's safe to say that Baraka has remained popular throughout the decades after making his Mortal Kombat debut and is something of a fan favorite. Yes, in Mortal Kombat 1, the Tarkatan makes a second appearance. He leads his fellow affected Outworlders into combat as the most lethal creature to emerge from the Tarkat virus; he also happens to be a formidable ally in MK1, so show him some respect.

Li Mei

This is a throwback to the past. Li Mei made her MK debut in the film Deadly Alliance in 2002. Armageddon is her only significant appearance in a Mortal Kombat game, despite her appearances in later editions, where she only makes a brief cameo in Mortal Kombat X and MK 2011.She is the disgraced former head of the Umgadi, a group of strong warriors that guard Earthrealm's royal family, so her homecoming isn't quite victorious. She is now shamed by the royal family since the ruler tragically passed away while she was in charge, but maybe you can help her win back Sindel, Mileena, and Kitana's affection.

Tanya

Tanya, ah. She is another well-known Mortal Kombat figure that leads the Umgadi; it is assumed that she assumed this position when Li Mei was unable to keep Outworld's ruler safe. As she is essentially Mileena's bodyguard (and secret but not so secret lover), Tanya is still Mileena's faithful supporter, just as she was in earlier chapters.Homelander

While the inclusion of Homelander in the Mortal Kombat 1 roster is not surprising, several characters from other creative works are. For those who are unaware, Homelander is the antagonist from the popular television series The Boys who poses as a hero and has several abilities comparable to those of Superman. We are eager to see his performance in Mortal Kombat. Oh, and because Homelander is exclusive to those who purchase it, be sure to acquire the Kombat pack.

Sindel

Sindel has at last returned to the core cast, not only as a DLC character. She's a rather iconic Mortal Kombat character, but let us give you a little overview in case you're unfamiliar with her. Sindel is Shao Khan's wife and the mother of Kitana. But in the first version of events, Shao Khan was a gentle and kind emperor before destroying Edenia. Over time, her spouse is mostly to blame for her character's decline. Now that we're back in a new era, fortunately Sindel is a caring but strict monarch who only cares about her daughters. Oh, and good news! She isn't Shao Khan's wife.

Khan at Large

Whoa, man. He is really back. once again back. Tell a friend that Shao Khan has returned. Fans of Mortal Kombat are all familiar with Shao Khan, one of the main villains throughout the whole series. Originally ruling Outworld, he later subjugated Edenia, taking Kitana as his daughter and Sindel as his queen.Naturally, he never quite has the chance to shape Kitana the way he desires. She still has a kind heart and wants the best for the Outworlders. This prompted Shao Khan to enlist Shang Tsung's assistance in creating Mileena. Liu Kang's plan involves stopping Shao from becoming Khan, thereby elevating him to the rank of general within the royal family, but it doesn't mean he isn't prepared to betray them.Omni-Man

It's common for Mortal Kombat to have unexpected individuals in its cast. To be sure, a few make perfect sense and come as no surprise. But Omni-Man, Invincible's father, comes as a bit of a surprise. Nevertheless, he fits in well here as an incredibly strong superhero who likes to preserve Earth. He naturally comes with the Kombat Pack, so you'll need to shell out a little more money to get your hands on him. Alternatively, purchase the game's premium and collector's editions, which come with the Kombat Pack.Peacemaker

Right now, Peacemaker seems to be the hero of the moment. This well-known DC character was somewhat atoned for his horrible deed in The Suicide Squad with the immensely successful Peacemaker TV series. Although it may be difficult for you to notice him at first since he is played by John Cena, rest assured that he is there in the Kombat Pack. With a variety of techniques at his disposal, Peacemaker is an entertaining character who will keep his time in Mortal Kombat 1 intriguing.

Cyrax

Despite making a brief appearance in MKX and appearing as an NPC in MK11, Cyrax hasn't been available in an MK game since Mortal Kombat 2011. Cyrax was formerly a Lin Kuei ninja who became an assassin. We're curious to find out what his reality in Liu Kang's new universe is since he has an intriguing backstory. You should be careful when you cross his path since he is not someone to be taken lightly in a battle.

Geras

Since Geras cannot be killed in Mortal Kombat 11, he is a relatively new character. Our heroes tie him up and cast him into an endless sea of blood, which seems like a fairly terrible destiny to us. Thanks to Liu Kang, he now has another opportunity, and not only does Geras appear in MK1, but he's also a completely playable character who also happens to be Liu Kang's close buddy.

Teleomorph

A returning Mortal Kombat original—are you ready? Reptile has been a bit of a fan favorite character since the original Mortal Kombat game. Since he wasn't available in MK11, it's great to see the humanoid reptile make a reappearance in Mortal Kombat 1. The fact that his main form is human—something we haven't seen since the trilogy—is an interesting development. Reptile's comeback as one of the good characters in MK1, aiding him in exacting revenge on his family and people, is a delight to see.Did we also mention that Ashra and Reptile seem to be developing a romantic relationship? Yes, it is rather adorable. Well, as adorable as a gigantic reptile and a demon can get, anyhow.

Havik

We haven't seen the Cleric of Chaos Havik in a very long time. Apparently, this native of Chaosrelam returns in Mortal Kombat 1. Havik last had a significant appearance in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon in 2006. He has since made a few brief appearances in MK 2011, MKX, and MK11. So it's fantastic to kick his butt again in MK1, after a lengthy break.

Ashrah

Ashrah is another figure who hasn't shown in a long time—despite being human, she is really a demon from the Netherrealm. She debuted in Mortal Kombat: Deception in 2004 and later made appearances in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and MK: Unchained. Yes, this signifies her first appearance in Mortal Kombat in sixteen years. Though she is one of the good forces in MK1, Ashrah has a history of switching between the forces of good and evil after deserting Quan Chi.

Ermac

Fans of Mortal Kombat will gladly welcome Ermac, who joins the game in Mortal Kombat 1 as part of the Kombat Pack. Ermac first appeared in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 in 1995. His most recent game appearance was a cameo in MK11, however his last playable role was in MKX. The tale of MK1 features Ermac, and it unfolds in a manner that is unanticipated.Mortal Kombat 1 characters Quan ChiQuan Chi

Quan Chi is a demon from Netherrelam that enjoys black magic and necromancy. He is kind of a cruel guy. He made his MK debut as a boss and cameo in MK Mythologies: Sub-Zero, although he later became somewhat of a staple. But it was Mortal Kombat: Armageddon that made him a playable character in 2006, and he went on to make playable debuts in MK 2011 and MKX. Fortunately for Earthrealmers, he will not be transforming people into revenants since he is a DLC character in Mortal Kombat 1.

Takeda

Takeda is another character who is very new, having only made a brief appearance in MK11 and making his MK debut in Mortal Kombat X. For those of you who like Kenshi's son, he is available as a DLC character in Mortal Kombat 1.Mortal Kombat 1 characters Motaro

Motaro

Another returning iconic character is Motaro, who makes an appearance as a kameo fighter. He made his debut in Mortal Kombat 3 and has since made several boss and sub-boss appearances in addition to the occasional cameo. However, you are still unable to play as him since he is a kameo fighter.Shujinko

Shujinko hasn't had a significant appearance in a Mortal Kombat game in a very long time, but the main character returns victorious as a kameo fighter in Mortal Kombat 1. It's unfortunate that we don't get to play as this person in MK1, since his original goal was to battle and destroy Shang Tsung. This aspiration drove him to master martial techniques from several domains.

Darrius

One recurring element in MK1 may be the return of certain characters who have been missing for a long time. Darrius, a fighter that hasn't been playable since Mortal Kombat Armageddon, is another one of these fighters. Regretfully, it still holds true to some extent because he makes an appearance as a kameo fighter in Mortal Kombat 1.

Frost

Frost first appeared as a playable character in Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, and this is the most current iteration of the character. Frost is a devoted follower of the Lin Kuei clan in the first timeline, but in the second, she has disagreements with her grandmaster, Sub Zero, and works out a peaceful resolution with Scorpion. Even after being kicked out of the Lin Kuei, she is set on a vindictive mission to depose and destroy Sub Zero. It's reasonable to argue that, as a kameo fighter in Mortal Kombat 1, you want her on your side.

Goro

All right, so everyone who enjoys Mortal Kombat knows who Goro is, so knowing that he appears in Mortal Kombat 1 is probably a good thing. But before you get too excited, know that he isn't a character that can be played. Rather, you may summon Goro, a kameo warrior, to assist you in combat.Jax Briggs

Jax, another well-known MK character, is only a kameo fighter in MK1, but he has made several appearances in games since making his debut in Mortal Kombat II. Taking into account some of the beloved characters who aren't available, Liu Kang is really upending everything. Nevertheless, you can count on this special forces hero to help you when you need it.Saraena

This is a face that we haven't really seen in a while. Sareena began her career as a Netherrealm assassin for Quan Chi. She eventually betrays him, however, and joins forces with the Lin Kuei and Sub-Zero. She plays a kameo fighter in Mortal Kombat 1, and considering how strong she is in combat, you may want to have her on your side.Mortal Kombat 1 characters Sektor

Sektor

Being the previous grandmaster of the Lin Kuei and Cyber Lin Kuei, Sketor has a bit of a mean streak. He is an ally of the series' villains but an opponent of characters like as Sub-Zero and Scorpion because of his ruthlessness. Sektor is playable as a kameo fighter in Mortal Kombat 1.The Stryker

Stryker makes a reappearance in Mortal Kombat 3, however he can only be used as a kameo fighter, so don't expect to employ those firearms. Although we are happy that he is again a part of the game, the 12-year wait to play as him once more will remain, since the most current game in which he can be played is Mortal Kombat (2011). Fortunately, the title still has appeal today. Our list of the top Switch fighting games might help you remain in peak condition if you're looking for some other games to play. To survive the epic Mortal Kombat tournament, you really have to be, trust me. Oh, and we also know the answer to the crucial query: is it possible to play Mortal Kombat 1 crossplay?
