All bosses in Dark Souls

Dark Souls bosses are a major factor in why fans of the Souls series, like myself, love it so much. They still have an effect, as seen by some of the boss designs in subsequently released games, even after all these years. Not only will we list all of the DS bosses here, but we'll also explain where to locate them, how to beat them, what drops from them, and some background information on their mythology.

See our guides for the Hollow Knight bosses, Cuphead bosses, best Zelda bosses, and Terraria bosses if you're looking for additional information along these lines. Oh, and remember to read our Dark Souls bonfire guide as well; you'll need all the assistance you can get to face these monsters, including leveling up.

Okay, let's get started. It's time to take on every boss in Dark Souls, including the ones you don't really have to fight. That's correct—a few of them are fully optional.

Obligatory bosses in Dark Souls

Dark Souls Bosses: The chosen undead chugging an Estus while the Asylum Demon lurks in the background

Asylum Demon of Dark Souls

Drops:
  • 2,000 souls
  • One humanity

You will get the large pilgrim's key if you are successful in defeating the Asylum Demon twice. But if you decide to take on this beast right now and prevail, you may locate the key on Oscar of Astora, the one who gives you the Estus flask.

If you beat the Asylum Demon on your first encounter, you may also take possession of its weapon, the demon's enormous hammer.

Violence:
  • Ground pound

The Asylum Demon performs this move by leaping into the air and slamming both its hammer and itself onto the earth.

  • Long range hammer

This is a move the boss only utilizes if you stay out of the way. The Asylum Demon lifts its weapon and launches a powerful, straight strike that may do Area-of-Effect (AoE) damage.

  • Hammer drive

The Hammer Drive is a somewhat easy attack in which the Asylum Demon raises its hammer at close range. slamming it to do heavy damage.

Tales and approaches:

Two minutes into the game, you encounter a large, angry, hammer-wielding demon that, to be honest, has a good shot of taking home the prize for finest boss loot. It's a good thing that it's absent when you initially visit the chamber where it resides since you have no weapons. It does, however, drop in, albeit you may still go via an open door.

You discover your first weapon and are given the dependable Dark Souls Estus flask after some exploring; this flask is actually a lifeline. It's time to employ them now, by returning to the boss arena where an enraged Asylum Demon awaits you.

First, when you enter the combat, make sure you launch a diving strike. You can do a significant amount of damage with it. Next, we advise charging in and setting up a certain action, such as making the monster leap into the air and fall on its behind. It's time to charge in and do some harm now. As an alternative, you could go around it and strike some of its treasure while doing so.

Though novice gamers may find its magnitude overwhelming, don't freak out. This devil will give way. Oh, and firebombs may cause a serious amount of damage to the Asylum Demon if you chose to use them as your initial gift.

Dark Souls bosses: the Taurus Demon chasing the chosen undead on a bridge

Taurus Demon, Dark Souls

Drops:
  • 3,000 souls
  • one humanity
  • one homeward bone (immediately sends you to the last bonfire you sat at)

You have a chance to drop the demon's greataxe, but it's not guaranteed. Later in the game, you may harvest the Taurus Demons in the Demon Ruins if you're very set on having this weapon.

Violence:
  • Quick ground stab

The weapon of the Taurus Demon rises, only to be hurled into the earth.

  • Standing Smash

The Taurus Demon uses its weapon to strike its target by raising it and then smashing it into the direction it is looking.

  • Jumping attack

The boss leaps at you and slams its greataxe into the ground, just as the name suggests.

  • Horizontal Swing

The weapon of the Taurus Demon swings in front of it horizontally.

Tales and approaches:

In terms of mythology, there isn't much to say about this boss. It's located on a bridge toward the end of the Undead Burg. Yes, the Taurus Demon is only a toll collector on display; he stands watch over the bridge that has to be crossed in order to go forward.

This battle might be quite simple. The only thing that really worries me is dying a funny but humiliating slide off the bridge. That being said, the Taurus Demon is as liable to inadvertently stumble into its fate. But if you want a good plan, as soon as you get through the fog gate, turn back and go for the ladder. Kill the archers after you've reached the summit. The combat will then start when you leap down and rush over the bridge.

You may sprint back to the ladder, climb it, and then land a diving strike on the boss's head for maximum damage once the Taurus Demon appears. Rinse and repeat until the demon falls. Oh, and while lightning resin weakens this boss, we advise utilizing it to increase your damage output or to battle the monster head-to-head. Discovering Undead Burg will allow you to locate some.

It's important to remember that this boss, which can be located in the Demon Ruins, turns into a normal adversary in the late game.

Dark souls bosses: one of the Bell Gargoyles roaring to the sky while holding a halberd

Bell Gargoyle, Dark Souls

Drops:
  • 10,000 souls
  • one twin humanities
  • Gargoyle’s halberd

Similar to the previous two bosses, there's a slim possibility that you'll be able to get an item from the boss. You could get the Gargoyle helmet or shield in this situation. Oh, and you may get the Gargoyle tail axe as long as you chop off its tail during the battle.

Violence:
  • Axe tail whip

As the name suggests, one of the gargoyles will try to swat you with its tail.

  • Flamethrower

The Bell Gargoyles can shoot fire out of their mouths in addition to using their halberds.

  • Halberd swings

Here, it's all in the name. The boss swings its halberd in front of it; these strikes have a remarkable range considering the sort of weapon.

Tactics and legend:

Now, here is where the true story of Dark Souls starts. Since there are two of these annoyances for you to deal with, it's likely the first time you've been really challenged. The combat isn't that terrible in the first half. You have a fair amount of space on the rooftop where you are confronting a single gargoyle, but keep in mind that falling is deadly and that gravity exists.

Nevertheless, a second gargoyle enters the battle when it has lost half of its health bar. Things become a bit complicated at this point. Weeping on the first gargoyle is the greatest way to deal with this unjust scenario. Should your damage output be sufficiently great, you might perhaps eliminate it before its companion has an opportunity to act.

An assault similar to a flamethrower may be used by Bell Gargoyles. They become open to assault if you roll to the side. It also wields a halberd, which has a decent reach, but you may easily avoid its swipes by evading them or by blocking them with the appropriate shield. The boss is susceptible to the element even if they are employing fire attacks, so either channel your inner pyromancer or load up on firebombs.

You may call upon Solaire of Astora for assistance if you just cannot handle the two gargoyles on your own. His sign is located just outside the fog gate, however keep in mind that in order for it to appear, you must be human. In the event that your ally is distracting your opponent, it also gets simpler to target the tail, making it simpler to cut it off and seize a new weapon for yourself.

Dark Souls bosses: the Caprad Demon swining its machete at the chosen undead

Capra Demon Dark Souls

Drops:
  • 6,000 souls
  • Key to The Depths
  • One humanity
  • One homeward bone

When a boss is defeated, there's a slim probability that their weapon will fall. If not, however, you may go later in the game to the Demon Ruins and farm the Capra Demons you discover there.

Violence:
  • Double machete swing

The Capra Demon swings at you after putting its machetes together.

  • Horizontal swing

The monster uses its weaponry to execute a series of horizontal swings during its assault.

  • Machete slam

The Capra Demon has one that lets it get closer to you, just as most bosses do. The boss launches itself into the air and slams its machetes down with a powerful blow.

Tales and approaches:

Put an end to the dogs. I can't emphasize this enough. The Capra Demon is not alone in the absurdly tiny boss arena. Two dogs will charge you right at the beginning of the battle. Running to the left side of the arena, up the steps, and over the ledge is the best approach to deal with them. The dogs will soon follow, so you may let them go.

Regarding the Capra Demon itself, pack your charcoal resin and firebombs since this dual-wielding beast is susceptible to fire. Additionally, the boss's horizontal attacks have a lengthy wind up, which gives you plenty of time to block or move aside. You may take advantage of the stairs if you don't want to go mano a mano with it. Just sprint up them, cross the ledge, and dive upon the demon; continue until you defeat the repugnant entity.

In the latter levels of the game, this monster, like the Taurus Demon, turns into a regular foe. Therefore, go to this region as soon as you can to farm the beast, get some souls, and potentially even acquire its weapon if you like the way its machetes appear.

Dark Souls bosses: Quelaag spewing lava at the chosen undead

Chronicles of Dark Souls Witch Quelaag

Drops:
  • 20,000 souls
  • Soul of Quelaag
  • one twin humanities

You obtain her soul in addition to a sizable number of souls once you beat the Chaos Witch. There are many ways that you may utilize it:

  • Feed the Soul of Quelaag to Frampt for 10,000 souls
  • Consume it for 8,000 souls
  • Use it to create Quelaag’s furysword
  • Use it to create the chaos blade

Never claim that Dark Souls doesn't take care of you. Quelaag may have an Only Fans account, provided that she continues to flaunt her upper body.

Some history about this Chaos Witch. Quelaag is one of the Witch of Izalith's children. Like her mother and several of her siblings, she was turned into the spider demon you see in front of you by the chaotic flame.

When it comes to confronting this creature, which makes me wonder whether spiders are really so horrible, you should be aware that she is susceptible to lightning, and that blades stagger her if they strike a human bodily part. But because she is impervious to fire, pyromancers must take a different approach.

You will quickly get familiar with all of her strikes since she severely telegraphs them, and you will be able to smash itsy bitsy in no time. It's critical to keep your distance from Quelaag since it's simple to avoid her sword swipes from this position, and she often pauses to spew a massive lava pool. You may go to her side and land some solid strikes when this occurs. Remember that these lava puddles do not disappear quickly, so try to entice her to the other side of the arena. If the fire pits are out of the way, you have more space to move about.

If you're having trouble, you may either summon Maneater Mildred, however doing so necessitates first facing her as a black phantom in the toxic marshes, or you can call on another player at the Blighttown bonfire. For even more assistance, check out our Dark Souls Quelaag tutorial.

It is only right to inform you that Quelaag was hostile because she was defending her sister, especially now that you have slain her. Thus, yes. Well done.

Dark Souls bosses: The Iron Golem walking towards the chosen undead

Dark Souls Iron Golem

Drops:
  • Core of an Iron Golem
  • 40,000 souls
  • One humanity

Once you defeat this monster, you will get a healthy quantity of souls as well as the iron golem's core, which you may use to:

  • Get the dragon bone fist
  • Feed to Frampt for 8,000 souls
  • Get the golem axe

You will face off against a monster reminiscent to David and Goliath as payment for surviving one of Dark Souls' most frustrating areas. Regretfully, there isn't much legend associated with the Iron Golem. In essence, his position at the summit of Sen's Fortress is to keep the undead from getting to Anor Londo, the home of the gods.

Because of its tiny size, there is a chance that you may fall to your death. But if you move as quickly as a butterfly and manage to convince the sluggish golem to stand close to the edge, you can knock it over the cliff. If you attack the boss's ankle enough, it will topple over and, if it's perched on the edge of the arena, you may eliminate it before it even depletes half of its health bar.

Dark Souls bosses: Ornstein and Smough stood together holding their weapons

Ornstein and Smough, Dark Souls

One of the many ways that Ornstein and Smough differ from previous Dark Souls bosses is that the awards you get are determined on who of them falls to your sword first.

Top Ornstein Drops:

  • Soul of Ornstein
  • Leo Ring
  • 50,000 souls

Drops of Super Smough:

  • Soul of Smough
  • 50,000 souls

With Ornstein's soul, you can:

  • Get the dragonslayer spear
  • Feed Frampt for 12,000 souls

Using Smough's soul, you can:

  • Get Smough’s hammer
  • Get 12,000 souls through consumption
  • Get one soul if you feed it to Frampt

Legends are made of these two. It's likely that even if you haven't played Dark Souls, you've heard of this fearsome pair. Not unexpectedly, these two are the subject of some amazing mythology. First of all, Ornstein is the captain in addition to being one of Gwyn's four knights. The god of sunshine turned down Smough's application to be a knight because of his propensity to devour humans. The large Smough is, in fact, a cannibal.

To be honest, this is the epitome of a well-executed gank battle. Ornstein's quickness counterbalances Smough's sluggish yet powerful blows. Furthermore, the arena's exquisite architecture gives you plenty of pillars to use to break up the fearsome pair.

There are now two ways you may go about approaching the combat. Whatever happens, one of them regains their health and experiences a significant boost. Who this occurs to is up to you, however. In my opinion, you should kill Ornstein first so that you may have a supercharged Smough. Although he can now deal lightning damage and strikes with more force, he is still a sluggish mover with a moveset that exposes him to harm.

Get to know this pair's agile knight even better by reading our Dark Souls Ornstein guide.

Dark Souls bosses: Pinwheel looking shocked in the catacombs

Pinwheel of Dark Souls

Drops:

  • 15,000 souls
  • The Rite of Kindling – this allows you to warp between bonfires, no more walking. Well, sort of.
  • One Humanity
  • One of its three masks:
    • Mask of the Child
    • Mask of the Mother
    • Mask of the Father

What a joke. This is, quite honestly, one of the simplest boss battles in any game ever created. You're going to destroy everything with this necromancer after around three hits, perhaps a few more, depending on your current stats, so I'm afraid I don't have much advise to provide.

Of course, facing Pinwheel early in the game might lead to additional issues, but why in the world would you subject yourself to the horrors of the catacombs before you absolutely had to? I would not - obliterate their bones. Proceed on your quest, take care of business in Anor Londo, and then enter the catacombs.

Dark Souls bosses: Nito emerging from his grave

Nightmare Nito

Drops:

  • Lord Soul (Soul of Gravelord Nito)
  • 60,000 souls
  • One humanity

Yes, this powerful creature called Gravelord Nito is one of the four lords who battled the old dragons. In addition, he is the lord of the dead.

skeletons. That's it. Since that Nito is the gravelord, it makes logical that this boss battle is also against his skeleton army. Regretfully, if you're a first-time player of Dark Souls, you'll suffer the misery of having to pass through the Tomb of Giants in order to get to this decomposing heap of bones.

Once you're inside the arena, don't move. It may seem absurd, but moving quickly draws attention from every skeleton. It's easier to handle if you invite them to come to you. Having a Dark Souls divine weapon on hand is also beneficial as it keeps the skellys down after you kill them. As you dance about with Nito, the last thing you need is an army of zombie bones attempting to murder you.

If you accomplish this, Nito turns into a piece of cake for warriors who use their hands; at last, those of us who wield swords won't have to work as hard. Because the monster moves slowly, you may approach behind him and gain free strikes. Plus, you can block all but two of his hits with the appropriate shield, so you're not really losing a lot of damage.

Last piece of advice: the King of Bones is prone to fire damage. As you see fit, use this counsel. Check out our guide to find out much more about Dark Souls’ Nito.

Dark Souls bosses: Sif howling at the moon with a sword in her mouth

Great Grey Wolf Sif Dark Souls

Drops:

  • 40,000 souls
  • One humanity
  • Soul of Sif
  • Covenant of Artorias (a mandatory Dark Souls ring)
  • One homeward bone

Using Sif's soul, you can:

  • Get the greatsword of Artorias (cursed)
  • Get the greatsword of Artorias
  • Greatshield of Artorias
  • Get 16,000 souls through consumption
  • Get 4,000 souls from Frampt

Nobody enjoys seeing a dog die, and it hurts considerably more when you are the one who does it. You will doubt your moral compass for a considerable amount of time if you add some horrifying mythology to it. Dark Souls’ Sif was once Artorias' pet, a renowned fighter who tragically perished in the Abyss. Nevertheless, this devoted Great Wolf is guarding her master's last resting place and won't leave, even if you try to enter. If you finish the DLC before meeting Sif, be ready for the boss will remember you. Because you both had to face off against each other after saving this wolf in the past, it makes this combat much more intense.

The actual battle is not that difficult. The enormous wolf is blind in one area. It's likely that you will evade all oncoming assaults if you stay underneath her. After a while, she leaps away to put some space between them; just follow her to enter the beast's belly again. Attacking her legs will make the battle simpler since it will render her lame, which will limit her movement and slow her down.

Finish the battle rapidly in its final stages. Not because Sif from Dark Souls is dangerous, but rather due of her terrible limp, which is rather ugly. Set this dog down and grieve over what was really a magnificent wolf.

Check out our Dark Souls Sif guide to find out much more about this magnificent beast.

Dark Souls bosses: One of the Four Kings fighting the chosen undead in the abyss

The Four Kings of Dark Souls

Drops:

  • 60,000 souls
  • Four Humanity
  • Bequeathed lord soul shard

The Four Kings were once morally upright rulers who were overcome by avarice. After falling into the Abyss, they were imprisoned and their city, New Londo, was submerged to guarantee that no one could ever find them again. Apparently, whomever it was missed the memo stating that the Four Kings' soul was required for the undead.

Speed is what this conflict requires most of all. Should you fail to eliminate a king quickly, others will appear, and then more, until four enraged creatures, capable of powerful magic and melee attacks, are forming a group against you.

Start spinning the camera as soon as you step foot in the Abyss, for the first King will appear far away and might be anywhere. It's previously been said that in order to stay ahead, you must move quickly. In keeping with the fast-paced motif, make sure you have light armor on so you can move more quickly. As a result, you can easily avoid their blows, particularly while encroaching on their personal area.

Things become a little trickier if you stay away from the King since it takes longer to knock one down, thus others are likely to appear before you can eliminate the one in front of you. Moreover, if there are many Kings, it may indicate that magic is approaching from several directions, which might crush you.

Dark Souls bosses: a close up of Seath in the crystal cave

Black Spirits Navigate the Scaleless

Drops:

  • Bequeathed lord soul
  • 60,000 souls
  • One humanity
  • Moonlight Greatsword (must cut of his tail)

This dragon is very sour. Really, he betrayed his own species by revealing Lord Gwyn how to slay the elder dragons and bring about their destruction. Gwyn, on the other hand, repaid Seath for his deceit by granting him the title of Duke and a portion of his lord soul.

When you confront Seath for the first time, the dragon isn't present. Rather, you have to cross across and enter a cut scene. You must immediately sprint back to the end of the chamber and destroy the crystal after this. You cannot damage Seath if you do not do this because of his longevity.

Staying to the side of Seath is the key to defeating him, regardless of your style of play. This makes it simple to perform spells, leap in for your own blows, and avoid his assaults.

Cutting off Seath's tail is necessary to get the moonlight greatsword, a well-known weapon that every Soulsborne player is familiar with. However, since Seath has a tendency to pass through the fog gate, this is easier said than done.

Dark Souls bosses: The chosen undead running towards the Ceaseless Discharge

Black Souls Unceasing Emission

Drops:
  • One humanity
  • One homeward bone
  • 20,000 souls
  • Can get the gold-hemmed black armor at the end of his arena

This boss seems just as repulsive as its name suggests. But when you dig more into the boss's past, you'll discover that he was originally the son of the Witch of Izalith, who, along with his brothers and mother, was engulfed by the chaotic flame and turned into a demon.

Perhaps you could use some magic or lure some assaults to physically harm it, but our plan just needs you to flee. When you first come into contact with Ceaseless Discharge, it is peaceful and has no desire to hurt you. That is, unless you become avaricious and steal his sister's possessions from a shaky shrine. Run back to where you entered; he's enraged now. The boss will lunge at you if you stand there, but he won't quite reach you. Now, give it a few strikes on the arm, and suddenly it plummets to the blazing abyss beneath.

To be honest, you have to have some pity for this animal. Its primary purpose in life was to carefully watch after its sister's possessions; it has lost the majority of its family and is in excruciating agony all the time. Then you murder one or maybe two of its other sisters, take from its deceased loved one, and push it over a cliff. Undead, you're not cool.

Dark Souls bosses: A close up of the Centipede Demon

Centipede Demon of Dark Souls

Drops:
  • 40,000 souls
  • One humanity
  • Orange charred ring
  • One homeward bone

Only melee fighters should find this boss battle difficult since sorcerers may readily launch long-range attacks. In any case, it's annoying to have to maneuver about in such a little area. I'm sorry to inform you that while you may wish to try to find an other path out of frustration, you must kill this fight in order to go on to Izalith, which is home to the Bed of Chaos.

On your first run, melee fighters are likely to encounter difficulties. Do yourself a favor and utilize the orange burned ring, which you can only get after beating this monster the first time, if you're playing via New Game Plus. If you're fast, you may equip it during the fight. Alternatively, you can attempt to slice off the centipede's right arm, which drops the ring early.

Its strikes are often simple to avoid. Rolling into lava is not the main problem. If you've gone on Solaire's side quest, you could always bring him in with you. However, Solair could simply rush into the flames and die, depending on what the Centipede Demon is planning.

Dark Souls bosses: close up of the Bed of Chaos

The Bed of Chaos: Dark Souls

Drops:
  • 60,000 souls
  • Lord’s Soul
  • One humanity

This boss arena is really a platforming level, so forget that you're playing an action-adventure RPG that places a lot of emphasis on battle and embrace your inner Crash Bandicoot.

I think this monster is among the worst employers I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. It's undeniably not one of From Software's best moments, and to make matters worse, this boss battle features the Witch of Izalith, one of the four major lords that helped Gwyn defeat the Ancient Dragons. Unfortunately, she had a rather unsatisfactory boss battle for such a significant figure.

As you make your way to either side of the chamber and smash the root orbs, the floor gradually gives way, making this puzzle boss mostly an easy win. The arena floor breaks way in the center once you've dealt with them. You have to leap and race to land on the center branch. It will bring you to a bug-like monster in the Bed of Chaos if you follow it. You win this battle with a single blow.

Keep an eye out for sweeping assaults as you rush around the arena. Although they don't do much harm, they might knock you into a lot of holes. If you do fall, however, you don't have to re-start the combat. Even if you die, the orbs on each side of the monster won't revive.

For those who would want a quick overview of the events leading up to this debacle, the Witch of Izalith and her children made an effort to bring back the original flame when it started to fade. This seemed to work at first, but it wasn't the case. Rather, the chaotic flame ignited and consumed the witch along with her offspring, some of whom you encounter along the way: Quelana, Quelaag, Ceaseless Discharge, and The Fair Lady.

Dark Souls bosses: the chosen undead facing off against Gwyn

Gwyn Lord of Cinder, Dark Souls

Drops:

  • Soul of Gwyn, Lord of Cinder
  • 70,000 souls
Ah, the guy who initiated this whole thing. Gwyn led the fight against the ancient dragons, ushering in the era of fire. Naturally, he wasn't working alone. Seath the Scaleless, Gravelord Nito, and the Witch of Izalith all aided Gwyn. Additionally, he is the father of Gwyndolin, an optional boss in Anor Londo. As the fire gradually burned out, Gwyn offered himself as a sacrifice to the flames, turning becoming a Lord of Cinder and delaying the end of the fire era.Gwyn is a ridiculous last opponent if you're a parry god. But most players find it difficult to defeat this Lord of Cinder on their first encounter, particularly since he often catches you in a deadly combination that ends up sending you back to the grave. In addition, he tests all of your abilities with his incredible speed and aggression. You have more options than just parrying at your disposal. One of them is to show there with thick armor that can survive the crazy damage that Gwyn does; if you want to do this, be sure to don Havel's ring. Additionally, you want to wear a shield that is very resistant to fire and physical harm, such the black iron greatshield. It's advisable to keep a little distance from Gwyn in order to evade his grab attack, even with all this gear. It's over if he manages to get hold of you, really. He robs you of most, if not all, of your health.Rinse and repeat after enticing him and dodging his grab strike, then charging in and landing several blows. Of course, you could simply go mano a mano with him, which would make for a really exciting battle, but if you're in need of a plan, start with safety. If not, introduce Solaire or another participant. The latter can only be accessed when you finish his questline. You have an option now that you have defeated the first Lord of Cinder. Either go on with his labor and the fire era, or usher in the dark age.Visit our Dark Souls Gwyn guide to learn much more about this significant character.Dark Souls monsters that are optionalDark Souls bosses: The Moonlight Butterfly magic firing magic at the chosen undead an Witch Beatrice

Moonlight Butterfly: Dark Souls

Drops:
  • One humanity
  • Soul of the Moonlight Butterfly
The Moonlight Butterfly wins the title of Dark Souls boss with the most dull personality. I would advise carrying a magazine or anything similar if you want to fight melee. This butterfly is a tiny tease that hovers just out of reach and shoots stuff at you from a distance. With the crest shield's excellent elemental resistance, you should start the fight with it equipped, since all of its strikes do magic damage. If not, the spells are telegraphed readily and usually give you plenty of time to sidestep them. This battle is easy if you have the bow and arrow or are a miracle user. The boss does come in close to recharge if you're using melee, so don't worry—it just takes a while. We suggest bringing a magazine to pass the time. Alternatively, you might introduce Witch Beatrice and let her to destroy the Moonlight Butterfly.Dark Souls bosses: A close up of the Gaping Dragon's bellyDark Souls Gazing at the DragonDrops:
  • 25,000 souls
  • One twin humanites
  • Blighttown key
  • One homeward bone
  • Dragon King Greataxe if you chop off its tail
You may bypass The Depths, a section of the game that contains the Gaping Dragon, provided you accepted the master key as your present at the start of the game. provided not, I really have to wonder why. It would be prudent for you to skip this region since, to be honest, it isn't very pleasant. That alone, along with coming into Blighttown from this direction, is complete insanity that could make you throw your game out the window. But if you make it beyond this filth and see the Gaping Dragon, it appears—well—like something out of the movie Teeth. In any case, avoid the beast when you initially reach the boss area. It won't take long for it to get agitated and to lower its head, making it open to assault. In its slam technique, the Gaping Dragon launches itself to the ground, ribs first. Keep your distance from this because if it strikes you, it might be disastrous. Though be careful—the monster may counterattack with a dash attack—this stuns it for a short while, allowing you to wailing on its head. You may use a summon to make things easy for yourself, and don't forget to remove the channeler that stands above the monster arena. If not, it will keep casting magic spells at you throughout the battle.Dark Souls bosses: the Stray Demon looming over the chosen undead

Stray Demon Dark Souls

Drops:
  • 20,000 souls
  • Titanite slab
  • One homeward bone
  • One humanity
Even while Dark Souls is an amazing game, there's a strange undertone of what seems to be poor design, and this is the first instance of it. You have to go back to The Asylum in order to locate the Stray Demon. You may do this by assuming the role of an egg in the nest above FireLink Shrine. No, I'm not making this up. Reentering the boss chamber of the Asylum Demon will cause the floor to collapse, sending you plummeting to a second room below. It is, as one would expect, the home of the Stray Demon. This battle has a similar path to success as the Asylum Demon. Are you curious as to why? Since they are essentially the same demon, avoiding close quarters or mastering dodges is beneficial. However, this variant of the demon does AoE damage to its strikes.Dark Souls bosses: Gwyndolin being attacked by the chosen undead

Dark Souls Gwyndolin Dark Sun

Drops:
  • Soul of Gwyndolin
  • 40,000 souls
I will tell you the truth. I may be a little too obsessed with Gwyndolin. The mythology surrounding this deity intrigues me much. Gwyndolin, the youngest child of Lord Gwyn, was reared as a female despite being born as a boy. The explanation for this is that this deity is effeminate due to their great affinities with the moon. As a result, their parents decided to raise them as daughters. But this was obviously not to Gwyn's liking. You discover a statue of Gwyn with two other figurines on each side of him while exploring Anor Londo. One is of his daughter Gwynevere; the other was once of his eldest son but has since been deleted. Nevertheless, neither a statue nor any indication of one exists. However, this boss is concealed by an illusion created by their father's statue. There are two ways that you can get to Gwyndolin. The first is destroying the false image of their sister that you locate after you've vanquished Smough and Ornstein.Alternatively, you might go far into the Catacombs to locate the darkmoon seance ring. With this item, you can get rid of the illusion and go down to the fog gate. It should be noted that selecting this option indicates that Gwyndolin is not antagonistic. Choosing to murder Gwynevre is a another matter.Because Gwyndolin's boss battle takes place in a lengthy hallway, it is one of the more fascinating ones. You have to dodge their magic and rush down it. If you are a pyromancer or sorcerer, you may attack from a distance by hiding behind a pillar and waiting for the right opportunity. If you want to utilize melee, either run with a shield that is highly resistant to magic or take refuge behind the pillars as you go down the corridor. When you hit the boss, their poor defense will give way and they will fall apart. Down the hallway, rinse and repeat until Gwyndolin is defeated. It should be noted that joining the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant is no longer an option if you decide to battle Gwyndolin.Check out our Dark Souls Gwyndolin guide to find out more about Gwyn's youngest kid.Dark Souls bosses: Priscilla looming over the chosen undead in a tower

Priscilla, Dark Souls Crossbreed

Drops:
  • 30,000 souls
  • Soul of Priscilla
  • One twin humanites
  • Prscilla’s dagger if you chop off her tail
The Painted World of Ariamis, maybe one of the most intriguing Dark Souls locations, is concluded by Priscilla.Priscilla has an intriguing mechanic in her boss fight: the ability to become invisible. Now, maintain your composure and poise before rushing about in a hurry. You can see her footsteps since the boss arena in the Painted World of Ariamis is completely covered in snow. She prefers to attack with a scythe, which provides her a respectable range, although they are simple to counter. As an alternative, you might use your trusty shield to deflect her assaults, but this is only a smart idea if you have a strong strength build and the endurance to take the strikes.Honestly, she's not a really powerful supervisor. Her ability to become invisible is her sole asset, but it vanishes as you see her tracks in the snow.Oh, and don't forget to decapitate her. You get Priscilla's dagger if you succeed. However, if you don't assault her straight away after talking to her, you may do this without making her angry. Thus, you may just drop over the edge of her boss arena to get your new item without having to battle her. This implies that there is no sin registered against your name.Visit our Dark Souls Priscilla guide to learn more about Priscilla if she interests you.Dark souls bosses: The chosen undead charging towards the Demon Firesage

Demon Firesage: Dark Souls

Drops:
  • Demon’s catalyst
  • 20,000 souls
  • One humanity
Although it's technically optional, it's likely that most of you will encounter this boss on your first playthrough. In a single game, this may also be the third time facing this monster. Allow me to clarify. A reskin of a reskin is the Demon Firesage. The Asylum Demon is the first, followed by the Stray Demon then this fiery monster. This demon's main distinction from its long-lost brethren is that, as its name suggests, it does fire damage. As such, you need to wear armor that provides excellent fire protection. You're so than ready for this encounter if you've dealt with the Stray Demon, since his moves are almost the same—they simply do fire damage instead of physical damage. If you follow the tactics used against the first two demons, you will win.Bosses in the Dark Souls DLCBefore you dive into one of the greatest DLCs ever made, let me offer you some advise. This is challenging, and as soon as you open the expansion, you'll face a challenging boss battle. Because of this, it's a good idea to leave these boss fights until the very end of the game, when the undead has fully developed and you are ready to face off against them.Dark Souls bosses: Sanctuary Guadian charging towards the chosen undeadGuardian of Dark Souls Sanctuary

Drops:
  • Guadian soul
  • One humanity
  • 30,000 souls
  • Guardian tail if you chop off its tail
The Sanctuary Guardian is the first boss in the Dark Souls DLC, and his main responsibility is to prevent anyone from entering the Oolacile Sanctuary. You're quite insane to desire to go to Oolacile when the Abyss destroyed those nations ages ago.First of all, because this monster employs lightning strikes, it's a good idea to have a shield with great physical and lightning protection; the silver knight shield is an excellent option. Additionally, if you want to make this combat even simpler for yourself, you could put on some lightweight gear that will facilitate movement. You shouldn't have any trouble defeating the Sanctuary Guardian if you've been honing your rolling and evading techniques since this boss's attacks are often quite obvious. It charges you as soon as you step foot in the arena. Simply roll out of the path and punish it after that. As a melee fighter, it is best to hug the monster and keep your shield up while you are not hitting, simply to be safe. While this does imply that the chimaera fires lightning at you from a distance, sorcerers and pyromancers may accomplish the same thing, i.e., battle from a distance.Additionally, the Sanctuary Guardian may strike with a poisoned tail. It shouldn't be too hard to move aside, but just in case, pack some moss with you.In case you were wondering, you may get an additional weapon by cutting the guardian's tail off, much as you do with previous Dark Souls enemies.Dark Souls bosses: A close up of Artorias

Artorias The AbyssWalker: Dark Souls

Drops:
  • 50,000 souls (halved if you bring in a Warrior of Sunlight)
  • Soul of Artorias
Prepare yourself for the delight that is Atorias, perhaps one of the greatest bosses of all time from Software. He is not to be taken lightly. It's evident as soon as you enter this arena that this is a husk of the knight who fell to the Abyss rather than the fabled figure of the past. Before learning the skill of abysswalking and meeting his demise at the hands of Manus, Artorias was one of the four knights of Gwyn. Then, in order to keep his faithful friend Sif safe, the knight gave up his massive shield. He was eventually completely corrupted by the Abyss, which he had vowed to oppose, over time. Now that you are somewhat informed on Artorias' past, let's talk about his boss battle. Don't be fooled by the fact that he can only use one arm. He swings that massive sword with such ferocity that if he hits you, you will definitely take some damage. Although he's one of the game's most brutal bosses overall, this gives the impression of a warrior dance. It's imperative that you study Artorias' motions if you want to beat him; one false move will cause him to unleash his combo wombo.Use a rapid roll to the right if Artorias jumps into the air, and be sure to do it three times before rushing in. When you do launch an assault, avoid becoming avaricious. Go for two or three hits, depending on the weapon you've chosen, and then back away. His charging strikes are another move to be wary of if you want to score any counters. Once again, you want to roll to the right, then quickly charge in and deliver a blow or two. When Artorias executes standing strikes, it could be tempting to go for some hits, but unless you're a dodge expert, resist the impulse. Artorias often follows these swings up with a deadly spin that's difficult to avoid. Oh, and halfway through the battle, he tries to strengthen himself with the Abyss's power; avoid him if you can, or else his blows become much more powerful.Of course, Artorias won't be as difficult for you if you're a highly enhanced pyromancer as he is for melee fighters or ordinary magic users. Just make sure that before entering, you have a 100% high stability shield on.Visit our Dark Souls Artorias guide to learn all there is to know about this fabled fighter.Dark souls bosses: the chosen undead walking towards Manus in the Abyss

The Father of the Abyss, Dark Souls Manus

Drops:
  • Soul of Manus
  • 60,000 souls
  • Ten humanity
Do you still recall the sad gray wolf you murdered before? You do, of course. As a puppy, Sif can assist you in this battle. Sif turns into a summon for the Manus boss battle if you came across the animal while exploring the region before and assisted her. It's a good idea to have the wolf with you since this boss is swift and quite hostile.Manus is the last mandatory boss in the Dark Souls Artorias of the Abyss DLC, so be prepared for a challenging encounter. This monster starts out by using physical techniques such a hand slam, slash combo, and a close-range frenzy attack in which he launches six consecutive blows in a row. You may either carry a powerful shield with you or become an expert dodger in this situation.Dealing with his assaults isn't too difficult at first, and you can establish a regular rhythm. However, Manus starts using black magic when his health drops below 60%. This may finish the battle if it strikes you. Nevertheless, it's a good thing you packed that shield since you can stop all of these strikes, right? This monster was once human, believe it or not, but when he lost his temper, he pulled the helpless residents of Oolacile down into the abyss with him.See our Dark Souls Manus guide to learn much information about this beast.Dark Souls bosses: Kalameet charging at the chosen undead

Black Dragon Kalameet, Dark Souls

Drops:
  • 60,000 souls
  • Calamity ring
  • Obsidian greatsword if you chop of his tail
This battle will put all you've learned on this grueling trip to the test. Recall the enraged ebony dragon that gave you the side eye when it landed on a Royal Woods bridge? That is this beast, indeed. You can take on Kalameet if you're feeling really brave, but you'll need Hawkeye Gough to take him out first. But you need to locate the crest key in order to go to the archer. There have been a number of dragon bosses in the series, but none have quite the same stature as Kalameet, and to be honest, this is a difficult battle. However, there's no denying the great joy you get from ultimately conquering the obstacle.I understand that it's only reasonable to want to wear fire-resistant clothing during a dragon battle, but bear with me. Kalameet's black flame does more magic and physical damage, therefore a damp tissue or a fire-resistant barrier would be just as useful in this situation. To be honest, you need to think about bringing the Crest Shield or something like. But if you're a warrior who prefers close quarters combat, grab the Artorias greatshield. It will prevent you from dying.Stay near to the dragon if you want to make up close and personal assaults, but never, ever go under him. Use your shield to defend yourself as he breathes fire, but be aware that doing so depletes your energy. First, have a look at the dragon. A minute or two later, he starts to make some tail movements. This is, to be honest, a battle of patience. This is a long-term commitment for the selected undead.Magic users may defeat him by avoiding his range and launching soul or crystal soul spears at him. It's just about timing your dodges, that's all. There you have it: a brief overview of the game's past along with advice for defeating each monster in Dark Souls.
