CEO promises that Supercell will experiment more in future games.
In a recent interview with the Financial Times, the mobile gaming behemoth Supercell said that it would be exploring new genres and taking greater chances with its next titles. This opinion is expressed after more than five years without a fresh global release and documented revenue declines.
The very popular Clash of Clans, along with its spin-off Clash Royale and a few additional mobile-exclusive games, are all developed by Supercell. The CEO of the firm, Ilkka Paananen, discussed Supercell's and mobile gaming in general with The Financial Times. He said that the firm is under constant pressure to match the breakthrough success of Clash of Clans with every game it develops.
"We want to create something better and bigger than Clash of Clans," Paananen stated in an interview with Richard Milne of FT. That isn't going to occur until we increase our risk.Numerous dangers. In 2016, Tencent—one of the biggest gaming corporations globally and the studio tipped to work on Elden Ring mobile—acquired Supercell. This combination is a part of a bigger trend in which internet giants are purchasing mobile gaming firms. Activision Blizzard and King were acquired by Microsoft last year, for example. Supercell, as it did with its former owner SoftBank, has "complete operational independence," Paananen said, although the collaboration has helped the studio's games access the Chinese market.
