2024's top anime video games

Selecting the top anime games for the Switch and mobile devices is akin to selecting the greatest anime series. Opinions in the community vary, making it a difficult task. Nevertheless, at SmartRead, we love anime and, naturally, video games, so we believe we're in a good position to try to make a definitive decision. All you need to do is keep scrolling if you want to rate our selections.

Similar to the top Disney games, the selections on this list are flawless videogame adaptations of vintage cartoons. At least the majority of them do; others only use the characteristic anime style. A few gacha games are included here, but generally we've made an effort to provide diversity. When everything is taken into account, several of them rank among the top mobile games overall.

These are the top anime games available for PC.

Puyo Puzzle Pop Puyo

Among the top Apple Arcade games of all time is the most recent entry in the venerable Puyo Puyo series. If you haven't played any of the series' games before, the objective is to stack various colored Puyos, which vanish when four or more of the same kind are matched. You must strive to achieve combo chains—where four vanish, then those above them fall down and produce another set of four—while playing against a variety of computer opponents or your pals. By doing this, Puyos marked as "garbage" will be sent through clear and have a greater chance of striking the top of the screen.Although it's a lot of fun, where's the anime angle? Older Puyo aficionados will be happy to hear that the game has a narrative mode, and every character is drawn in a lovely, chibi anime manner. There are plenty of positive feelings here and they're all extremely adorable.Puyo's gameplay alone would rank among the best smartphone puzzle games, but the narrative and characters elevate it beyond the ordinary and draw in even more anime enthusiasts.Use the Apple Arcade to play Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop.Best anime games: AFK Journey. AFK Travel

the much anticipated follow-up to AFK Arena. Even while this game lacks a clear anime inspiration (we'll get to them shortly), it's still a great usage of the iconic anime aesthetic. For those who have never played AFK Arena, let me explain. It's a fantasy role-playing game, but it can also be played as an ideal game, as the name "AFK" suggests. The way you play it is totally up to you. As with any idle game, you may choose to grind and advance while you're not actively playing, but there is also a vast area to explore, full of side missions to find and more. It provides a best-of-both-worlds solution by allowing you to identify the sweet spot that suits your needs. It is highly recommended. If you are having trouble getting started in the early stages of the game, check out our instructions on AFK Journey codes and AFK Journey tier list.Take a free look at AFK Journey.Best anime games: Shantae and the Seven Sirens. Mobile

Shantae and the Seven SirensDespite being developed by an American team, the game's graphical style clearly draws heavily from anime. The most recent Shantae game was first available only on Apple Arcade, but it has since been released on other platforms. If you haven't played the series before, you play as the titular Shantae, a half-genie who can change into various animals by using her dancing moves. She must travel a huge Metroidvania-style landscape in order to locate the missing sirens. The exquisite hand-drawn artwork in this game sets it apart from the others in the series. Even when you're playing, every character—even the enemies—looks fantastic and moves with such fluidity. There are completely animated sequences that resemble something out of an anime. Definitely give it a go.Best anime games: Genshin Impact promotional art showing Raiden, Nahida, Venti, and Zhongli sitting together in a field
