The top cat-themed Pokemon
Meowth
The main man, the diminutive, gregarious tiny man. As one of the three iconic members of Team Rocket, Meowth is perhaps the most well-known cat Pokémon. He also taught himself how to speak human in one of the most heartbreaking episodes of the Pokémon anime. He has a terrific, can-do attitude and gained notoriety for his ability to employ payday, a technique that pays the trainer money after a victory. Why aren't my pets able to do that?
Meowth has shown to be a highly adaptable Pokemon throughout time, appearing in a variety of forms across different areas. These forms include the Alolan Meowth, the Galarian Meowth, and a unique Dynamax form in Galar that honors the notorious "long cat" internet meme. It does have one unique form that we like that came around a little later, even if we personally detest its Alolan evolution that makes Persian seem like an emo Garfield.
Perrserker
The combination of giving Meowth a Norse flavor and then having an evolution that honors the legendary berserker troops of the era is simply so fantastic. With its tiny Viking horns and unique shape, Perrserker is endearing even if it's a strange take on the original design. The addition of steel typing elevates it above the competition. Although regional forms and evolutions are not always consistent, it was a delight to see this one in Galar.
Litten
Litten is one feisty little fire-type, and we adore him. He's one of the finest starters in years, and his evolution was so popular that it ended up in Super Smash Bros. It stands out from the rest because to its black design and red stripes, and in Pokémon Sun and Moon, choosing between Litten and best friend Rowley is quite difficult. You're not liked by anybody, Popplio.
Espurr
I suppose the reason I like Espurr so much is because it seems to be haunted by the spirit of a Victorian kid with those big, sparkling eyes. Espurr is a strange and endearing'mon with a psychic-like appearance, but aren't all the finest cats a touch strange? It also develops into the stylish Pokémon Meowstic, which is most recognized for having two very different designs. All I want to do is give a Espurr a hug and reassure it that everything will be well.
Solgaleo
Sun & Moon produced this chubby lad, box legendary Solgaleo, representing the Sun half of the two games, not satisfied with just one fantastic cat Pokemon. This psychic and steel-type hybrid, which is based on a lion, is a pretty fascinating combination that offers good type coverage and a distinctive move. It is not something you want to obstruct, Sunsteel Strike. It's one of the most interesting evolution pathways in all of Pokémon, a split evolution from the cute little Cosmog, given that Pokémon may also miraculously transform into the bat-like Lunala.
Espeon
Look, whether you like it or not, Espeon is a cat. This may not sit well with certain people. We know this because the design of this Pokémon was influenced by a particular cat from Japanese legend called the Nekomata, which grew to be so strong that it severed its tail in two. Like the tail of Espeon, you know. In addition, this gen-two symbol is one of our favorite Eeveelutions and a fairly awesome special attacker, so it definitely deserves a place on our list of the greatest cat Pokémon.
*Sprigatito
The SmartRead team loved Sprigatito as soon as we saw it during the promotional period for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Yes, it's a cat-themed Pokémon starter, but this one is really adorable and the first grass type to belong in the feline group. Though some may find Meowscarada, its ultimate development, to be somewhat more controversial, few can argue with Sprigatito's charming appearance.
That's all for now, people. However, if you really must tell us why another cat Pokémon ought to be on this list, please do so via the SmartRead Twitter account. If, however, you send a message endorsing Purrugly, you get blacklisted.
