2024's top Steam Deck games

The greatest Steam Deck games that you should buy on your console are included here since some of us are well-suited for gaming on the move. Since few people would purchase the same game on several platforms, we concentrated on games that are unavailable on the Nintendo Switch for this list since, at our core, we are a Nintendo website. Every game on this list has been confirmed to work with the Steam Deck.

If you're considering purchasing a Steam Deck, you can read our evaluation of them here. Additionally, in case you haven't heard, there are rumours circulating regarding an upcoming Switch 2 release date. Should you choose to return to a Nintendo system, would you like to play one of these new Switch games?

The top Steam Deck games are as follows:

best Steam Deck games - Baldur's Gate 3 - a combat scene with players facing a huge enemy

Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur's Gate 3 is not simply one of the greatest games on Steam Deck, but one of the greatest games ever made. For those who are unaware, it's a massive role-playing game with a flavour reminiscent of Dungeons & Dragons, very intricate character customisation, relationship and party building, and combat that may alter drastically with the roll of a die.

One of the main characters might be your avatar, allowing you to lie through their eyes, or you can be a rogue who leads your group into dangerous circumstances and succumbs to the evil side. There are a tonne of replayable routes and options in Baldur's Gate.

Not only for you guys who want to spend endless hours cuddling with Astarion and Shadowheart, but also because playing Baldur's Gate on a portable console is fantastic since you'll be playing for hours on end, and nobody likes to spend that much time at a desk. What is known about a Baldur's Gate 3 Switch port is also included here. For a more in-depth analysis of the game, check out our sister site PCGN's review of Baldur's Gate 3.

Hi-Fi Rush

While there are speculations that Hi-Fi Rush could make its way to the Switch, the game is currently only available on PC and Xbox platforms, which naturally includes the Steam Deck. Prepare to rock in Bethesda's vibrant game, Tango Gameworks, with combat improved by rhythm.

Among the many great songs on Hi-Fi Rush's soundtrack are oldies from The Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, and The Black Keys. You become like Chai, the "defective" aspiring rock star, as you groove to "Invaders Must Die." He still has a blast and gives it his all as he takes down bosses and works to overthrow the wicked megacorp.

The Thieves' Sea

Mateys, avast! Sail throughout the seven seas in this multiplayer pirate game, where there are tonnes of skeletons to defeat and gold to plunder. I refer to Rare's online game Sea of Thieves, which allows you to live the life of a pirate you've always desired.

Establish a daring galleon, brigantine, or sloop to sail alone or with company, and then go on a plethora of seafaring expeditions. Participate in the game's Pirates of the Caribbean and Monkey Island storylines, dive under the seas to loot a shipwreck, and fend off a megalodon or the Kraken. A word of advice from one player to another: don't hoard your gunpowder barrels.

Now that you may play in the safer seas option, which is limited to you and up to three pals, you can alleviate your concerns about the possibility of being sunk by other players—a very real hazard.

Elden Ring

While Dark Souls is available on the Switch, what about Elden Ring, the younger sibling? Exists a port for the Elden Ring Switch? No, but anybody looking for a difficult role-playing game set in a gorgeous but sinister setting may get it on the Steam Deck. With Elden Ring, From Software went above and beyond. As the Tarnished, you have to use the ring's power to take control of the area and establish yourself as its ruler. See the Elden Ring review on PCGamesN for a more thorough explanation.

Yes, the fighting is difficult, but that is part of its charm. You don't mind if it takes you a few times to beat a boss when the characters and surroundings look this amazing. And when you do prevail in these great conflicts, the glory is unbelievably wonderful.

Using your faithful horse-goat hybrid, Torrent, Elden Ring lets you explore the Lands Between, carrying you through woods, marshes, and castles. While exploring the vast universe, gather spells and weaponry. While you're there, remember to pay a visit to Miriel, the papal turtle.

Diablo IV

You can unleash hell in Diablo VI if that's your thing. You must get the fourth game on the Steam Deck, even if previous titles in the same series are playable on the Switch.

You may investigate the surroundings while avoiding demons and vanquishing darkness as the never-ending conflict between the heavens and hells rages on. The events of Diablo IV take place fifty years after the world's brief period of comfort, which has now ended. You now have to deal with a cult and a new demon princess named Lilith, who is Mephisto's daughter, via dungeon crawling, hacking, and slashing your way through the game. Is Diablo 4 going to be available on the Switch, we wonder? Check out somegames like Diablo in the interim.

Final Fantasy XV

A few Final Fantasy games are available on the Switch, however one of the finest in the series, Final Fantasy XV, isn't on that list. This game is basically a fantasy road trip throughout Eos, following Prince Noctis and his lovable gang of buddies. At first, Noctis and his companions set out to marry Princess Lunafreya, but on the way out, the Empire attacks, necessitating the preservation of the planet.

The brothers take on side occupations like monster hunting and riding Chocobos while also assisting Noctis in becoming stronger. As you travel to Lestallum in Final Fantasy XV, Valse di Fantastica, one of the greatest videogame themes ever, plays.

The Midnight Suns of Marvel

Do you like Marvel films? Do you also like playing card-based combat, life simulator games, and witchcraft? You're going to like Midnight Suns, I assure you. Everything is in this game. Along with engaging in activities like bird watching and painting, you may make friends and hang out with iconic heroes like Captain America and Wolverine before embarking on some top-secret missions to attack Hydra's strongholds.

As you wait, you learn more about the Hunter—your own character—and their connections to the wicked Lilith. Given that Midnight Suns is from the same team that created XCOM, you can be sure it was created with skill and won't let you down. If you like Marvel games, you may like these web-slingin' Games featuring Spider-Man will pique your interest.

2077 Cyberpunk

Everyone is aware of Cyberpunk 2077 at this point, and despite a rough start, it now functions flawlessly. Being a mercenary, you're V, and you kind of have Keanu Reeves living inside of you. It's Johnny Silverhand, of course, but he looks just like Mr. Reeves in the role that he plays.

The expansive role-playing game from CDProjekt Red offers you a variety of routes to choose from as well as several customisation choices so you may arm yourself with cyberware to improve your abilities. This is crucial when you and Johnny attempt to detach from one another after being entangled during a botched theft. Naturally, Night City is a dystopian city full of exciting things to do.

We're excited to hear about some additional games that will be available on portable devices, such as if the Sims Nintendo Switch version will ever come out or when the Silksong release date will truly happen. Along with the best gaming phones to play them on, we can also suggest some of the best mobile games available.
