In Bayonetta 3, the cat is pettable.

Bayonetta 3 gets us all feeling a little naughty, and not only because of the strong, curvaceous mother dressed in skimpy leather apparel. Yes, you can touch the adorable pussycat in Bayonetta 3; the brilliant account @CanYouPetTheCat recently tweeted this, along with a video to prove it.

Fear not—the Bayonetta 3 cat in question is not the enormous, evil, warped Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland that fights with Viola. Instead, it's a cute, sly little creature that resembles my cat Xiao in that it has wide, golden eyes and silky black hair.

In the video, Bayonetta can be seen giving her new cat companion a few chin rubs before it turns into a sick somersault and vanishes within her amulet. That is beyond the capabilities of my cat, Xiao. Not that I think. It's funny since a Reddit user actually mentioned wishing to be able to touch cats in Bayonetta 3 a few months ago. It seems that our favorite witch heard their requests and chose, out of kindness, to grant them.

From the action-packed streets of Cyberpunk to the adventure-filled sandbox of Dragon Quest Builders 2, to the cozy life sim Wylde Flowers, the Bayonetta 3 cat joins a whole arsenal of purring, pettable cats across a number of titles. I highly suggest the latter if you're searching for more witchy wiles and feline companions. You can see whether it's your kind of brew by reading our Wylde Flowers review and Wylde Flowers interview.

Fortunately, the Bayonetta 3 release date is getting closer, so you won't have to wait long to touch the cat in the game for yourself. If the adorable kitten wasn't enough to pique your interest, see what else this badass woman gets up to in our Bayonetta 3 preview.
