Google's newest model may be used in the AI functions of the Samsung Galaxy S25.

Even if we're still getting acclimated to the AI capabilities of this year's Samsung smartphones, a fresh story about the AI features of the Samsung Galaxy S25 is making the rounds online. The launch of AI tools this year, such as Live Translate and Circle to Search with Google, may just be the beginning if it proves to be accurate.

As per a report via Android Authority from the Korean magazine Daum Herald Economy, Samsung intends to use Google Gemini Nano 2 technology for the Galaxy S25 series, which will be the top Samsung phones of the next year. According to reports, this knowledge came from Samsung CEO Cho Cheol-min's talk at the Artificial Intelligence Semiconductor Forum this month. There isn't a lot more trustworthy source than that.

For those who don't know, the amazing Galaxy AI features of this year's S24 Series are made possible by Google's Gemini Nano, the tech giant's most powerful AI model. Google has not yet made an official announcement on the next iteration of this ground-breaking technology, called Gemini Nano 2.

Given that the Google Pixel 8 Pro was the first to receive Gemini Nano functionality, the Google Pixel 9 series is probably more likely to get Gemini Nano 2. However, if Google and Samsung stick together as Android companies attempting to challenge Apple's hegemony, it makes sense to anticipate the S25 Series to launch earlier in 2019 with additional Gemini Nano 2 powered features.

Apart from the partnership with Google, Cheol-min informed the AISF attendees that Samsung intends to double its 200-person Exynos AI division. Though this is merely conjecture, it may indicate that the Korean tech company will be depending more on its own Exynos chipsets than on any upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon SOC for AI capabilities. In any case, we'll be watching for any new developments around smartphone AI from Google or Samsung.
