Which Gen 5 Pokémon are the best? For the greatest
gen 5 Pokémon, there are plenty of options with 156 Unova inhabitants to choose from. Although selecting the best pets is never simple, we can manage it. The PT crew selected their favorite animals as a group. While some of them are very awesome, there are also a few that can make you doubt us, but still have some faith.
Similar to our other guides, this one will not have any beginner Pokémon, legendary Pokémon, or mythical Pokémon, since they already have their own guides, and this one focuses on the unsung heroes. The greatest dog Pokémon, snake Pokémon, cat Pokémon, bear Pokémon, best gen 1 Pokémon, and the finest gen 8 Pokémon are all covered in these articles, so check them out for even more fantastic guides.
These are the top Pokémon of Generation 5:Chandelure
Come witness why this'mon is the finest by becoming our guest, visitor, guest. A fire/ghost-type that resembles an enchanted chandelier, Chandelure (
Lampent's evolution) is vying with Rotom and its numerous incarnations for the title of finest sentient piece of furniture. It has a reputation for hypnotizing people with its flames in order to entice them in (Chandelure, get it?) and then it is supposed to burn its victims both physically and spiritually.Chandelure is a beloved character from Unova, particularly because of her incredible 145 base special attack stat. This is only one Pokémon out of a group of them that have some very amazing numbers that have permanently altered the metagame. Whoever calculated the data for Pokémon Black and White went on a wild goose chase. In fact, chandelier is so well-liked that it has a spot in the Pokémon x Tekken crossover game Pokken Tournament DX for the Switch. I'm not sure whether you've ever played with a sentient chandelier like a luchador Pikachu, but I can assure you that it's a lot of fun.Our
fire Pokémon weakness and
ghost Pokémon weakness instructions will help you stand strong whether it's the fire or ghost side of Chandelure that stumps you.
Hydreigon
The generation five pseudo-legendary line, emulating Pokémon like as Garchomp, Dragonite, and the
fossil Pokémon Tyranitar, also known as Hydreigon, is regarded as the vicious Pokémon. Regardless of generation, this one poses a serious danger because to its combination dark and dragon type, excellent move pool, and stat distribution. Every monster in the evolution line has a German number as well; Deino, Zweilous, and Hydreigon all have numbers that range from ein to drei, signifying the three heads of this vicious creature. It is immune to techniques from both ground and psychic Pokémon because to its excellent type, which makes it a respectable danger against
ground Pokémon, Garchomps, and earthquake users throughout the land. The years haven't been kind to Hydreigon, unfortunately, since it does make it quite vulnerable to fairies. But at least it has this amazing shine that makes the beast's blue heads brilliant green. It's so popular that the shiny even makes an appearance in the anime. During a
Pokémon Go community day, I managed to get one myself.Although defeating dragons might be challenging, the key to doing so lies in our
dragon Pokémon weakness advice.
Braviary
Braviary, sometimes referred to as the brave Pokémon and obviously drawn from an eagle, is unquestionably one of the greatest
bird Pokémon in the series and cuts a frightening figure. Although different areas of Japan influenced the previous four generations of Pokémon, the United States affects the Unova region, thus naturally, Game Freak had to add an eagle Pokémon. Its hue even reflects the American flag's red, white, and blue!Unfortunately, Braviary's dual normal/flying type makes it less useful in combat than it is visually appealing. However, it does appear in
Pokémon Legends: Arceus in a very useful new form, with the Hisuian Braviary switching to psychic/flying-typing and a brand-new color scheme that features vivid pinks and purples. Undoubtedly, it receives our pick as one of the greatest new Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.Check out our tutorial on
flying Pokémon weakness to bring Braviary down to earth."Krookodile" (
and )Take a peek at this cunning man! To be honest, I'm a huge fan of crocodiles and alligators, so any Pokémon that features them jumps up in my estimation. However, Krookodile isn't only a fantastic member of the Crocodilia family—it also has an amazing appearance. The Krookodile, also dubbed the intimidation Pokémon, has thick black stripes covering its whole body, but the bands over its eyes give the appearance of a robber's mask. This is just very amazing Pokémon design, Game Freak.Due to its dual ground and
dark Pokémon type, Krookodile is resistant to psychic and electric attacks. However, it still possesses a number of common weaknesses, including those to water, grass, ice, and fairy; this may be the reason why Krookodile hasn't been as popular as other ground-type Pokémon like Garchomp. Nevertheless, I will always have a special spot for it.Remember that understanding the vulnerabilities of
Dark Pokémon is essential to defeating Krookodile in battle.Excadrill
Do you recall when I discussed some of the Pokémon from the Unova area and their amazing stats? Introducing Excadrill, who leads the pack in attacking power compared to Zacian, Urshifu, Terrakion, Kyurem, and many more with a massive base 135 attack. This man is simply out there, strolling about. It's simply your typical'mon! I assure you that I wouldn't want to run across one in Unova's sewers. As an immune system against moves from
poison Pokémon and
electric Pokémon, excadrill is a joint ground and
steel Pokémon. (and a nightmare for Toxtricity, the Gen 8 Pokémon), but its vulnerability to earth, water, and even fire let it down. It is a sight to see, using the enormous drill that emerges from its head and arm claws to rapidly bore into the earth. Excadrill may be a fantastic asset to a squad if used correctly since it also has the hidden ability mold breaker, which lets ground-type attacks strike Pokémon who have the levitation ability. If you find Exacdrill to be too difficult, check out our tips on
ground Pokémon weakness and
steel Pokémon weakness to find out how to conquer it.
Volcarona
It's an enormous fire moth. I mean, what more can I say? Another monster that received a stat raise is Volcarona, a fire/bug type with a 135 special attack stat. You do not want to be in the line of fire from this beast's flamethrower since it is quite powerful. Sadly, it lacks immunity and is even 4 times weaker to rock, which means that a stealth rock may do a significant amount of damage to it.Clearly influenced by Mothra, Volcarona evolved from Larvesta and has a rather regal appearance. The mix of fire and bugs is particularly intriguing. Additionally, it often has the ability flaming body, which means that even if it is less resistant to physical strikes than special attacks, there's a considerable possibility you may burn opponents that come into touch with the beast. In Pokémon Black and White, my Volcarona is the gem in my squad, and because of its timeless look and intriguing type combination, I always want to have one on my team, regardless of the generation.Try reading our
bug Pokémon weakness and
fire Pokémon weakness guidelines to get rid of Volcarona.
Cofagrigus
Cofagrigus, sometimes referred to as the "coffin Pokémon," is one of the scariest Pokémon in the series with its eerie black tendril-like limbs and sinister smile that emerges from the coffin's head. Its design is obviously inspired by the cursed sarcophagus of Egyptian pharaohs. With an incredible 145 physical defense and 105 special defense, paired with its one ghost type, this mon is all about defense. It is impervious to both fighting and regular attacks. In essence, this is a very powerful wall Pokémon that, rather than using an aggressive strategy, can steadily nag opponents with status ailments and other bothersome techniques like curse. This monster has an unsettling quality to it since it is said that Cofagrigus eats those who approach too closely and transforms them into mummies. If you are a tomb robber, this is definitely not what you want to find.It must be acknowledged that just by nature, being a ghost-type leaves it vulnerable to attacks from other
ghost Pokémon and
dark Pokémon. However, if gen 5 adds anything, it does so by bringing us beautifully onto...
Zoroark
While Lucario, the bipedal pseudo-legendary from Generation 4, is so well-liked that he makes appearances in the main Pokémon films, Zoroark, the illusion fox from Generation 5, has a very special ability. Since Zoroark is the sole Pokémon with the ability illusion, it might confuse your opponent and perhaps force them to spend a pointless move on the dark-type by appearing as a different Pokémon when it enters combat. This is supported by its acceptable 120 special attack stat and reasonable 105 speed. However, even though Zoroark's ability appears to be meant to allow him take a few hits, Zoroark won't be standing there for very long because of its pitiful 60 special defense and physical numbers. This is probably the best place to look up the definition of a glass cannon. If nothing else, its protection to psychic moves is provided by the lone dark-type. The amazing Hisuian Zoroark, on the other hand, not only has a ghostly appearance and flowing white fur, but it is also immune to normal, fighting, and ghost-type techniques due to its normal/ghost typing. Keep an eye out for this one later on!Fortunately, we have guidelines explaining how to defeat Zoroark under the
normal Pokémon weakness and
ghost Pokémon weakness headings.
Joltik
And last, but certainly not least, there's this little baby spider. In my mind, there is a particular kind of Pokémon that I like to characterize as "just a sweet little guy." Prominent products in this category are Bellsprout, Snom, Azurill, and, naturally, Joltik, the electric/bug hybrid. It's hard not to fall in love with this boy, what with his lovely small eyes and his startling brilliant yellow color?Designed to be only 0.1 meters tall, Joltik is also among the tiniest Pokémon in the game. Unfortunately, it doesn't have much power, and Galvantula, its development, doesn't really alter anything either. However, Joltik isn't competitively viable, so not every Pokémon has to be to be adored. Joltik, you'll always be our favorite; keep being who you are.Even though you shouldn't have any problems with Joltik, you should be aware of the
electric Pokémon weakness in case Luxray, Jolteon, or Raichu appear. That's all we have for you today, trainers. Hopefully you were able to add some excellent Gen 5 Pokémon to your squad. Visit our
