Layoffs are part of the Nuverse reorganization, although Marvel Snap promises to continue

Owner of TikTok, ByteDance, said over the weekend that it was leaving the game sector after the announcement of a Nuverse restructure. In an attempt to sell some of its most popular games to other businesses, the publisher of Marvel Snap and One Piece: Blood Routes is laying off hundreds of employees, which represents a significant change in the mobile gaming industry.

Following the publisher's confirmation to news agency Reuters that it was basically exiting the game sector, Nuverse reorganization was first covered by Bloomberg and Forbes. After acquiring Nuverse in 2017, ByteDance has attempted to build a studio in order to rival other Chinese behemoths like Tencent and Hoyoverse. Still, the firm hasn't been able to produce a successful game like Genshin Impact or PUBG Mobile. The closest thing Nuverse has had to a success story is Marvel Snap, but despite heavy advertising and excellent videos introducing new Marvel Snap cards every month, it's not reaching the same level of success as the popular mobile games we previously discussed.

Some were immediately concerned about Marvel Snap's situation since the game is just a year old. Nevertheless, it seems like Second Dinner, the developer, has already fixed issues with the superhero CCG via X. On Monday, November 2, 2017, an X post said, "Dear SNAPPERS, A few of our gamers have voiced their worries about rumored Nuverse structural alterations. We appreciate your concern and want to reassure you that SNAP will keep running well in the future, no matter what changes occur at Nuverse.

Regretfully, the announcement that Marvel Snap has survived the reorganization doesn't provide much comfort to those who have lost their jobs as a result of it. Rumor has it that as many as 700 Nuverse workers may be let go from the firm. Additionally, there are reports that ByteDance, who purchased developer Moonton for $4 billion back in 2021, is trying to sell the business entirely. Although the titles of the games that fall under the Nuverse banner have not yet been revealed, we will monitor the most trustworthy trade sources to provide you with the most recent information.
