The latest iPhone 16 case leak offers us the clearest preview of the next gadget.
Recently, there has been no lack of iPhone leaks and speculations. Dummy devices that purport to display each model's dimensions have been seen, and there have even been murmurs about the width of the bezel. Nevertheless, this latest iPhone 16 case leak is the first instance in which a video has surfaced.
The information was leaked by well-known source Ice Universe, who posted a video showing an iPhone 16 cover on an X. Since the case only has two camera cutouts, we can only speculate as to which model it is for in the absence of any accompanying lettering. However, we think it is either the iPhone 16 or 16 Plus.
The iPhone 16 Plus is most likely the device based on its size, however it's also conceivable that the person who took the video just has small hands. It's difficult to say without context. The casing is as simple as they come; it has a raised area for Apple's MagSafe magnets and a solid black design.
Even more intriguingly, we can see that the cameras are oriented vertically instead of diagonally like in the iPhone 15 models. Although it may seem like a little design tweak, Apple is reportedly considering implementing this modification so that non-Pro iPhone models can record and save spatial video, which can then be seen with the Apple Vision Pro.
The addition of a new button next to the volume controls and an extra cutout space on the opposite side of the phone is another intriguing change. The latter is supposed to be the new Capture Button, while the former is probably for the Action Button that Apple debuted with the iPhone 15 Pro.
Rumors claiming that the Capture Button will be a capacitive touch sensor are supported by the fact that it has a cutout rather than a button. We're eager to find out more about this one. It could even enable swipe motions. Naturally, we should wait to believe anything until we actually see the iPhone, but given how trustworthy the leaker is, it wouldn't be shocking if all of this is true.
The cover also reveals that the next iPhone will resemble the current model quite a bit. There are no surprises there; the standard flat edges and back panel are to be expected. discover our guides to the best Samsung phones, the best Xiaomi phones, and the best Google Pixel phones to discover what devices the iPhone 16 is up against.
