The greatest characters in Zelda

Since its debut on the NES, The Legend of Zelda has adorned every Nintendo platform for over 40 years. Given how much time has passed, it is not surprising that there are many vibrant Zelda characters in the cast. There isn't a set sequence for this list. It's only a matter of opinion as to which Legend of Zelda characters we think are the greatest.

Here are our opinions of the top Zelda characters.

Horrule's King

It's difficult to choose a favorite monarch of Hyrule, the realm in which Legend of Zelda often takes place. For example, King Rhoam from Breath of the Wild is a contentious figure who bears most of the blame for the majority of the problems in Hyrule at the beginning of your journey due to his poor judgment and greed.

Alternatively, you may be more fond of the cheerful, carefree King Harkinian, who brightens your day with a warm "My boy!" You are probably more familiar with this Zelda patriarch from his impact on online culture at the height of YouTube's ascent. Or maybe you just like him as a boat. That's also cool.

Tingle

Our next entrance soars in: Tingle, the map-giving, balloon-floating clown of Hyrule and self-described fairy. He's as flamboyant as he is airy, often lending a lighthearted touch to dire circumstances to the point that his participation in a game may come off as contentious, if not at odds with the setting and design.

Tingle helps Link with a treasure map or map most of the time, along with a sparkling dance and song. Please try to forget that we discovered him in Wind Waker's prison. For what reason was he imprisoned?

Impa

Impa is a bodyguard and sometimes a maiden for the Hyrule royal family. Sheikah tribe is related to the family. Throughout Link's travels, Impa gives him sage advice, often outlining the purpose of his mission and the risks involved. Although there are numerous ways to interpret Impa, our favorites are when she appears in Age of Calamity, Hyrule Warriors, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Although Impa's role as the sage teacher is intriguing, her participation as a fierce warrior who lives up to the Sheikah name is always much more alluring.

Tetra

In The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Princess Zelda's descendant Tetra the feisty pirate captain arrives in a world where Hyrule and the kingdom are all but forgotten. She is such a memorable character and a welcome diversion from the stereotypically "princessy" aura Zelda normally carries because of the amount of sass she offers Link when he attempts to rescue his sister.

The greatest embarrassment to her persona is that, after she accepts her destiny as Princess Zelda, Tetra plays the rest of the game as a sullen spectator. Seems like a bit of a waste.

Ganon

Ganon, often known as Ganondorf, is almost always the primary adversary. He has such a ferocious reputation and is so identifiable that you know precisely what to expect from him when he steps into the fight. He is a vicious person who keeps coming back to life in an attempt to rule the whole planet.

That is, if you don't stop him, he won't be kidnapping a princess like another well-known and beloved Nintendo villain and bringing everything good and pure to ruin. Ganon is the antagonist that every player is familiar with, whether he takes the form of a gigantic pig monster or a Gerudo with an unbreakable jawline.

Zelda the Princess

From a helpless damsel in distress, the stoic princess of Hyrule has grown into a formidable warrior with wisdom beyond her years. Sometimes it's difficult to pin down Zelda's character, but when the chips are down, she's always there and loyal to the forces of good. Although she plays a youthful, wide-eyed princess with a lot to learn in Breath of the Wild, one of the most recent mainline Zelda games, there are some intriguing moments in The Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel.

Link

One of the most recognizable gaming characters ever is Link, the man who saved time. One of Link's greatest qualities as a triforce of bravery wielder is that he is a blank canvas on which you may place your own accusations. Like in Wind Waker, where Link is an unknown descendent who is hesitant to go on new adventures.

Alternatively in Breath of the Wild, where Link is Princess Zelda's personal guard and has a great deal of duty. Each game's narrative often starts with Link's qualities as a person and a hero before expanding from there. It's up to you whether he lives up to his forefathers' expectations. Visit our BotW Link article to find out much more about him.

We say that "there's nothing like it on the Switch," so be sure to read our The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom review to see how this well-known protagonist does in his most recent journey.

Sheik

In Ocarina of Time, a mysterious warrior guides and protects Link on his journey while teaching him tunes on their dependable harp. When Link needs guidance on his journey throughout Hyrule, Sheik is there to provide it. Sheik's gameplay elements aren't the only thing that keep us interested; the character's enigma remains a secret throughout Ocarina of Time, leaving us in the dark about their identity.

Up until the very end of the game, when Sheik turns out to be Princess Zelda in disguise, everything is still unknown. It's an intriguing turn of events that enhances Zelda's persona while also elevating Sheik to a superior level in one of the finest Zelda games ever made.
