According to leaks, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in September 2024.

The internet has been buzzing since the beginning of 2024 about a Nintendo Switch 2 leaks and a possible release date for the unavoidably upcoming next-generation device. To far, the majority of conjecture from inquisitive enthusiasts has been examining Nintendo's past system releases in an attempt to predict when an update would be released. Now, that has altered as a result of a leak from a dishonest press release.

AI startup Altec Lansing, best known for its GameShark software, said at CES that it would launch AI Shark, a new gaming bundle that will "redefine the gaming landscape with its revolutionary AI-enhanced technology." The AI Shark software will launch in September 2024, according to the press statement accompanying this revelation, which also happens to be the Nintendo Switch 2 release date.

Yes, that's correct—it seems like Nintendo unintentionally revealed details about their intentions for the Switch's replacement in the press release. I apologise. "September 2024, in conjunction with the release of the Nintendo Switch 2," it said in closing.

Although this seems to support the widespread fan theory that Nintendo wants to deliver the Switch 2 as soon as possible, the specifics still rely on how accurate Altec Lansing's information is, and even if it is accurate, Nintendo's plans are still subject to change. Having said that, a few clues point to September 2024 as a possible release date for the Switch 2 from Nintendo.

First off, even though it hasn't been confirmed, the next Nintendo Direct is probably going to happen next month, making it the ideal venue for a major announcement. Another hint is that, similar to how Breath of the Wild, which is still among the greatest Nintendo Switch games ever, was promoted alongside the first Switch, the Switch 2 will need a flagship title. This is probably going to be from one of Nintendo's popular franchises, like Zelda, Mario, or Pokémon. It seems reasonable that the Switch 2 would launch with a new Pokémon game considering the recent releases of new Zelda and Mario titles. With Scarlet and Violet firmly in the rearview mirror, it seems like this news has been long overdue.

All that remains for fans to do is wait for official confirmation and information on the specifications, features, and games that will be released with the Switch 2. That should be arriving shortly, so the wait will soon be gone.
