When will there be a remake of Final Fantasy 9?

Remake of Final Fantasy 9 At the start of 2023, when the 35th anniversary was scheduled to include an hour-and-a-half-long presentation full of delicious FF news, rumors began to circulate like wildfire. Since the anniversary has already passed, it is clear that these disclosures were unfounded.

Projected release date for the Final Fantasy 9 remake

Regretfully, Square Enix has not yet revealed the title or a release window for the Final Fantasy 9 remake. Though we may be jumping the gun a little bit, the speculations from earlier this year really gave us hope that this beloved game will get a graphical makeover and be released on the Nintendo Switch with other next-generation devices.

A Nintendo Switch 2 could also come out later in the year, and we think a Final Fantasy 9 remake would be a great way to introduce the new system.

Exist any leaks about the Final Fantasy 9 remake?

A couple additional rumors have surfaced since we last discussed the 4Chan disclosures. A trustworthy gaming source, Jeff Grubb, revealed in July 2023 that a remake of Final Fantasy 9 is being worked on. Then, in September, a leak from ImAHeroToo via a Reddit thread surfaced, indicating that the game would launch in the summer of 2024. Nevertheless, there has been no confirmation from Nintendo Switch as of yet.

Now, remember to take all of that with a grain of salt since we won't get our hopes up until Square Enix confirms anything.

Will the Switch version of Final Fantasy 9 be released?

As previously stated, Square Enix has not even revealed the platforms on which the Final Fantasy 9 remake would be released. Nonetheless, I believe that 9's aesthetic works very well on the Nintendo Switch since it doesn't need as realistic scenery and characters as Final Fantasy 7 Remake does.

Gameplay of the Final Fantasy 9 remake

We at SmartRead hope that any future Final Fantasy 9 remake sticks to the original formula, with turn-based combat and no changes to the narrative. I believe that for a remake to be successful, it would need to smooth out all the rough edges, add voice acting, and enhance the quality of life. The original already has a chibi-esque style that has aged gracefully.
