MWC 2023: Experience the Tecno Phantom V Fold Firsthand

We have the most recent information on the launch event for the Tecno Phantom V Fold, the impending foldable phone from the Chinese tech startup, in another exciting day of news.

The tech company is making two debuts at MWC 2023: the first is at the conference, where it will make its debut with the release of its first foldable gadget, the Tecno Phantom V Fold. It can easily compete with other high-end models based only on technical specifications thanks to its 7.85-inch unfolded screen, five lenses for high-quality photography, and a cutting-edge mechanism that reduces that bothersome wrinkle between displays.

At MWC 2023, our correspondent Ben had the opportunity to test out the Tecno Phantom V Fold ahead of schedule. Its hinge seems to fold fully flat, is rather robust, and is slender. Its rather leathery-feeling textured back cover may not be to everyone's taste. Although it's a little smaller than the typical deck of playing cards, the breadth is still a little bit more than we want.

Although the external screen is fantastic, if you're accustomed to a non-foldable phone, using this one can still be a little challenging. The celebration begins inside, on a large 120Hz AMOLED screen. The crease is visible and feels noticeable, but not any more so than on Samsung's rival. The novelty of using the Tecno folded out hasn't gone off. It still seems amazing.

Our brief test revealed that the camera is good and that it even smoothed some odd face traits, but we need more time to draw any conclusions. The essential point is that, despite its seeming innovation, it is still simply another folding phone. It is a good product from such a new brand, and it feels and looks like the others.

Tecno made the major announcement during its MWC 2023 panel. The audience was informed by Tecno General Manager Jack Quo that "we re-affirm our commitment to innovation; to the continuous pursuit of the next great technologies; and to empowering people, all around global frontier markets, to live beyond the extraordinary" with the launch of Phantom V Fold, our first foldable smartphone, during our very first appearance at MWC.

Given the intense market rivalry, it seems like Tecno has some serious intentions for the future. Although Samsung is a well-known brand for foldable devices, the industry is going to become much more competitive as other foldables, including the Honor Magic VS and an impending OnePlus device, debut. It's interesting that we were unable to locate the Phantom V Fold's price point, so we'll keep a watch on what you would be anticipating to pay for the gadget.
