The Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed in the next year.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa has officially said that a Nintendo Switch 2 reveal will take place before the end of current fiscal year, putting an end to months of speculation. He does, however, caution us not to get our expectations up for the Nintendo Direct, which is expected to arrive next month.

Many of us have been anticipating Furukawa's tweet for months now, as there were rumors earlier this year that the Nintendo Switch follow-up will be released before the end of 2024. After a while, these speculations died down and fresh leaks emerged, suggesting a 2025 release window—a development that Furukawa has all but confirmed with his article. As the Japanese fiscal year finishes in March, for those unaware, we can now be certain that the next Nintendo system will be released before March 31, 2025. The whole post is available here.

This is Nintendo President Furukawa. Within this fiscal year, we plan to provide details on the Nintendo Switch successor. It will have been more than nine years since we first revealed the Nintendo Switch in March of 2015. Please be advised that there will be no mention of the Nintendo Switch successor during the June Nintendo Direct event, which will be on the software lineup for the Switch for the second half of 2024.

Although there isn't much information available now about launch titles, recent rumors indicate that the Switch 2 may get significant hardware improvements. One of the most intriguing reports said that Nintendo decided against using the original Switch's rails in favor of magnetized attachments for the Joy-Cons. Additionally, there have been rumors that the next Nintendo system may use an LCD panel instead of an OLED, but as of this writing, Nintendo has not confirmed or commented on any of these rumors.
