Who is William Afton of FNAF?
One of the two original creators of the Freddy brand, Willaim Afton formed the firm in the 1980s with business partner Henry Emily. But things took a sharp turn for the worse when Afton killed Emily's kid just before the Bite of 83. Not long later, the company closed.
The incident that establishes the narrative of Five Nights at Freddy's occurs five years later. While posing as Spring Bonnie, Afton murders five kids, but the police let him go ostensibly for lack of proof. After entering Freddy, Foxy, Bonnie, Chica, and Golden Freddy, the five children's souls wait to get vengeance on the wicked guy who placed them there for the remainder of their lives.
Afton launches a new business at Circus Baby's Pizza World after the murder. But the restaurant is a scam; Circus Baby was Afton's invention, designed simply to murder other kids. This brutality has a purpose: Afton wants to possess Remnant, the supermaterial that gives spirits the ability to inhabit animatronics, in order to utilize it to become eternal.
Like any good novel, Afton's dubious activities ultimately catch up with him. Afton is forced to attempt hiding under a Spring Bonnie costume as the five animatronics, who are infected with the ghosts of the dead children, try to track him down on their return journey to the abandoned pizzeria. The animatronic activates and combines with the man's body while the rain pours down Afton's suit, making the situation worse.
After over thirty years, Afton's soul resurfaces within the Spring Bonnie outfit and adopts the moniker Springtrap. In FNAF 3, you battle Springtrap and gradually discover that Afton is wearing the horrifying suit. When the attraction you're watching over eventually catches fire, Springtrap escapes with significant fire damage to her outfit.
In Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, Henry Emily and Michael, Afton's son, get up in an attempt to burn Springtrap/Afton alive and release the spirits of Puppet and Circuis Baby. Regretfully, even though all the others perish in the fire, Afton manages to survive again, this time with the help of FNAF’s Vanny, who employs the Glamrock animatronics from Security Breach to save Springtrap’s corpse while Afton stays in a virtual stasis as Glitchtrap.
The actual conclusion of FNAF: Security Breach is the last chapter in Afton's journey as of this writing. Gregory of the FNAF activates Henry Emily's incinerators before making his getaway with Glam Rock Freddy and leaving Afton to burn. Afton tries to flee, but The Blob drags him back inside the building where he melts into the earth. However, Afton has escaped before, so it wouldn't be shocking if he did so once again.
How would you characterize William Afton of FNAF?
The personality of William Afton may be summed up in one word: wicked. Throughout the whole series, Afton is the only character who has any redeemable traits. Afton is a skilled murderer who lacks empathy and is cold-blooded, presumably having no regrets for his deeds over the course of a career of causing agony to others.
William Afton from FNAF lacks any redeeming qualities, in contrast to other characters in the series. As the years pass, he becomes more and more of the embodiment of evil. It's unclear what drives Afton to carry out such horrible deeds, but even if it did, it wouldn't justify the horror he's brought to the Five Nights at Freddy's universe.
