It's official: the list of Samsung Galaxy AI features for older phones
The list of Samsung Galaxy AI features that will be available on the company's older phones has finally been released, albeit it isn't nearly as long as we had hoped. It might be discouraging to read this if you've been delaying purchasing an S24 in order to get more information about these features.
For those who own Samsung's earlier phones, the Korean tech giant promised some interesting new AI capabilities at the major unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in January. Still, just four additional features—Circle to Search, Note Assist, Live Translate, and Photo Assist—are arriving (via MySmartPrice), according to the Samsung UK website. When the Z Flip5, Z Fold5, or S23 FE phones launch in the first part of this year, you may check them out if you possess one of these phones.
The least unexpected feature to make the jump is Circle to Search, as it's already available on some of the top Google Pixel phones as a result of Google and Samsung working together on the technology, which follows the most recent Pixel feature drop. Given that Pixel phones have had a comparable photo-editing capability for some time, Photo Assist also makes sense as a product that should be made more broadly accessible.
As of this writing, Chat Assist, Transcript Assist, Interpreter, and other features seem to be limited to the S24 series. That is not to suggest that they will never make it to the list of gadgets that we previously discussed. It remains to be seen, however, whether Samsung makes use of these capabilities in an effort to entice more prospective buyers to purchase an S24 or even future models. Given the S24 Series' meager hardware improvements over previous year's models, it makes logical for the company to maintain some software exclusivity in order to draw in customers who are thinking about upgrading.
That's all there is to know about the Samsung Galaxy AI capabilities that will be available on phones, including the S23 Series from last year and the company's foldable and flip flagships.
