The dungeon-crawling game Dark and Darker Mobile is wickedly entertaining.

The rather weary Dark and Darker community let out a collective sigh of relief when it was first revealed that Krafton would be the one to release the mobile adaptation of their cherished dungeon crawler. It seems sense that Krafton's reputation precedes it; the publisher should be very proud of its heritage as the creator of the wildly popular mobile adaptation of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

We got to talk about that spin-attack, Joonseok Ahn, the lead producer of Dark and Darker Mobile, his love and dedication to the original IP, and all of the ideas that have come out of the proverbial dungeon since they started the project. Both Bluehole Studio and Krafton have done a fantastic job at keeping the game feeling current by using a blend of classic and modern aspects. See for yourself why we thought it was so great in our Dark and Darker Mobile preview.

{main_label:web_name}: Since you converted PUBG to mobile devices so well, did you use any specific techniques from your PUBG porting success to create Dark and Darker Mobile? Ahn Joonseok: Although we didn't use any novel technology to create Dark and Darker Mobile, we saw the opportunity to bring the PC version of the game to a mobile platform, given our history of bringing PUBG to mobile devices. However, Dark and Darker Mobile and Dark and Darker PC are two entirely separate games; Bluehole Studio is the only developer of the mobile edition.

Will you be closely monitoring how the meta develops on Dark and Darker Mobile and providing regular updates to keep all classes and builds feeling at least somewhat useful? Ironmace's Dark and Darker witnessed fairly consistent metas like Buffball, where you have a tank archetype, typically a fighter or barbarian, frontlining with a cleric or bard buffing them from the backlines, get adjusted and nerfed on a regular basis.JA: Since playing Dark and Darker Mobile with friends is so much fun, each class and meta has a distinct purpose, and we want to introduce more classes and abilities with appropriate balancing updates. Since there are several game genres that may be played in the dungeon, some classes will always have unique advantages over others. However, we'll keep creating these kinds of ploys [to maintain their relevance].I was very excited to test out the special spin-attack that we've previously seen in the Dark and Darker Mobile teasers during my playtest. Given that players have access to spellbooks and a variety of weaponry in this fast-paced, tactical game, how did you optimize the fighting for Dark and Darker Mobile? JA: There are three key components that make the battle in Dark and Darker Mobile so special. The first problem was that mobile displays are quite tiny [when compared to TVs or PC monitors]. Therefore, we made an effort to develop an automated system that would improve and facilitate fighting for participants. Second, as you are aware, Ironmace's mobile game differs from its desktop counterpart in terms of fighting. We thus made an effort to enhance and provide gamers a great fighting experience in both PvP and PvE modes. Thirdly, our mobile version will contain distinct spells and attacks from our PC version due to the significant differences in controls between the two platforms. Not only are we translating the PC game to mobile platforms, but we are also learning whole new abilities on our own. With these new systems and controls, we are thus concentrating on optimizing them for mobile devices. Additionally, we are considering enabling Switch controllers to be used with Dark and Darker Mobile.image of krafton offices with a dark and darker mobile display Was it decided to make a specific extraction mobile game when Krafton brought Metro Royale to PUBG Mobile, and how did you decide on Dark and Darker? JA: Since Metro Royale in PUBG Mobile was a sub-mode, we approached Dark and Darker Mobile extremely differently. In order to escape, players will repeatedly engage in our fundamental play With Dark and Darker Mobile, we think we are creating a whole new genre of extraction game rather than merely offering a sub-mode like Metro Royale. We have several mechanisms in place, including support, community, and mercenary. Since the main gameplay consists of dungeon crawler, RPG, battle royale, and extraction components, we want to provide a variety of modes, including PvE and arena modes in addition to PvP.The ability for players to select specific PvE or PvP dungeons is one of the biggest differences between Dark and Darker Mobile and the original desktop version. Was this decision made at the outset, or did it evolve over time? What other significant differences exist between Dark and Darker Mobile and Ironmace's game?JA: We found that the suspense and complete immersion players had while playing a game was one of the key reasons they appreciated about the original desktop edition. They are vulnerable to attacks from both the front and the rear of other players, and they stand to lose everything if they are unable to flee.Since that this was a very important component of the PC game, many gamers may get disinterested in playing the subsequent installment. We intended to include a "mid-core" option with PvE in the mobile version for this reason. One of the primary sections we concentrated on was this, which can be summed up as a monster-filled dungeon crawling role-playing game. This is the primary portion of the game that we want to continue developing. This is a result of PvE being less taxing on players than PvP.For the original desktop game to function so smoothly and naturally on mobile devices, were there any significant restrictions or adjustments that you had to make? It seems like a separate organism, so in order to maintain the cohesiveness of the original game, were there any elements you felt compelled to preserve or discard right away?JA: Whatever the genre, I love everything about the original game's aesthetic and first impression. I made an effort to preserve the original game's geography, style, and classes for Dark and Darker Mobile in order to maintain the same level of innovation and user experience as the desktop version. We must thus let a large number of players to engage in PvP against one another as they attempt to escape via uncharted dungeons while collecting wealth along the way. In Dark and Darker Mobile, we maintained the essential elements of PvP and adventure, but we also included AI assistance, such as mercenaries, to help players get back into the game and keep them coming back. You've previously said that the classes available for us to choose from when Dark and Darker Mobile launch are fighter, barbarian, rogue, ranger, and cleric. But will there be more classes added, meaning that subclasses and multiclassing will also be available?JA: We want to add classes like wizard and bard in addition to the five that we now have, however we are not sure which order we will create and release them in. Naturally, multiclassing is a well-known system that has been included into Dungeons & Dragons, but we haven't made up our minds about bringing it to Dark and Darker Mobile just yet. In order for classes to function as effectively as possible, we need to make maps and other combinations with them in addition to just creating new classes.dark and darker mobile character preparing to open a rune covered door in a dungeonThe Dark and Darker forum has previously had extensive discussions over the idea of a druid class. What are the intentions for Dark and Darker Mobile's near future in terms of a roadmap, and were there any plans to include this much anticipated class?JA: We will undoubtedly create the druid class in the future, but we are unsure of when precisely. I am aware that a lot of people are interested in it. Playing together and building a community among users will be one of our main priorities. We will create a guild system so that players can join together and go on adventures together, as well as exchange stuff, as everyone who has tried the game has remarked it's a lot of fun, particularly when playing with others.Second, we'll consider how to provide players with a schedule. We have low to mid-core versions as well as hardcore versions currently, as we previously said. As a result, we will be concentrating on how players re-enter these sessions via mercenary and support systems.Above all, Joonseok, we have one more question for you: which class do you like to play in and whyJA: Because it requires long-range character skill with bows and arrows and was the hardest class to master on mobile, ranger is my favorite class to play. We were testing it, and I played it a lot. The ranger will be much better and more advanced in the future iteration. That's why I found it to be my favorite! The release date of Dark and Darker Mobile is unknown, but in the meanwhile, enjoy our selections of the greatest RPGs and games like Elden Ring that are currently playable.
