Could anybody else top this list? One of the most recognizable Pokémon ever created, Lugia was first shown in Pokémon 00 and appeared on the box cover of Pokémon Silver. A psychic/flying type, she is a massive bird that perfectly embodies the franchise's theme of legendary creatures who are both stunning and menacing. Little needs to be said about Lugia—a fierce fighter with a fearsome appearance and maybe the most well-known shadow form in the whole Pokémon universe. Indeed, Lugia is among the top gen 2 Pokémon available.
Zapdos
If I had to choose one favorite legendary bird, it would have to be the spiky lightning fowl Zapdos, generation one's amazing flying and electric Pokémon. Since I can't choose amongst the three since it would be too apparent.In Pokémon Blue, Zapdos was the first legendary bird I saw. Maintaining the yellow and first generation theme, I can't finish my list without including a duck Pokémon, and that Pokémon has to be Psyduck. If you were somehow unable to see the Pokémon anime when you were younger, you may not be aware of how famous this Pokémon headache is, but anybody who grew up with Ash and the crew will still find it hard to forget the constant back-and-forth with Misty. Though Psyduck isn't my favorite migraine'mon, I've always thought it a bit disappointed that Game Freak didn't give in to the anime and make it a water/psychic-type. Decidueye is a bird of great importance and the only starting Pokémon that belongs to the flying-type egg group even if it isn't truly of that typing. Even if Noctowl is an adequate owl Pokémon, Decidueye, with its grass/ghost type and design that fully embraces the enigmatic aspect of nocturnal birds, is perhaps one of the most inventive starter Pokémon in recent memory. We need more amazing birds like these in the future, Game Freak, and fewer boring lizards (I'm looking at you, Inteleon).Piplup
Alright, so Piplup may not fit under the category of flying-type eggs, but it doesn't make him any less of a bird. Take a look at its tiny wings, waddling feet, and its little yellow beak. Just knowing that Piplup is my small friend would make me happy enough to stare at its oval-shaped eyes all day. Although Piplup ultimately matures into the much less amiable-looking Empoleon, let's ignore that and instead appreciate the beauty of a small penguin Pokémon. When Ray Mysterio and an eagle meet paths, what do you get? Hawlucha, the flying and fighting Pokémon, or the most intense WWE bout I've ever seen are the options available to you. Due to its time spent battling with Ash in the anime and its very stylish shiny form, which replaces the orange and white with black and purple in one of the greatest Pokémon palette changes, this luchador-inspired bird is a fan favorite. When compared to some of the other single-stage Pokémon, Hawlucha can also hold its own in combat. When it comes to bird Pokémon, Braviary has always been a bit of a particular favorite of mine. However, many others and I didn't really see the entire majesty of this flying beast until Pokémon Legends: Arceus. With its fierce claws, colorful feathered head, and wild white wings that occupy half the screen, Hisuian Braviary is a sight to see. It will somehow transport you across the ancient Pokémon universe. My only wish is that this lovely bird doesn't be left to languish in the past. We may hope that the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC has already brought back Ursaluna and Hisuian Arcanine!Talonflame
Since I've touched on competitive Pokémon a little bit in this list, I can't really conclude it without mentioning Talonflame, a bird Pokémon whose influence on the meta was felt very immediately—just like, well, a Talonflame with the gale wings ability. You see, since Talonflame has full HP from Gale Wings, he may strike first. This means that if you can use the flaming bird to begin a fight, you basically get a free hit on your opponent. That may not seem like a huge deal, but when you consider that Talonflame can acquire the strongest flying-type move in the game—Brave Bird—the intensity might become a bit much to take. Talonflame has been the dominant player in Pokémon Unite even after the game's release.<Pidgey
Did you really believe I wouldn't? Yes, I have, and I have absolutely no regrets. Pidgey is a legendary Pokémon that many of us first saw in the wild. He also served as the inspiration for a route one bird-type ritual that endures to this day. Granted, you may have a little grudge against the pigeon Pokémon due to recollections of Sand Attack abuse; nevertheless, try to recollect the level three Pidgey that transported you around Kanto during your childhood, and you may see why it was included on the list.
